  1. are they illegal in this country then? to be honest pal i dont know the answer to that !!like i said they were designed for a specific purpose and that was not to leave a signature on the bullet !!!! i have used them but it must be nearly 20 years since and they were remington factory rounds ive seen some advertised in the uk and was interested to no about them, there must be a better way of pushing a 22 cal past 4,000 fps.dont worry gordon brown is safe.
  2. are they illegal in this country then?
  3. has anyone used them with a .223 55g bullet?how did they perform, were they cleaner and how were they to reload?
  4. it was probably on the slow boat from china like all his other stock"buy it cheap sell it high"his words not mine
  5. the fact that he steals the name of other gunshops is a sure sign of the service you can expect.the shop never pays his bill so therefore can get any accounts with suppliers thats why everything takes so long if it ever turns up,but he is quite happy to say he can get anything take your money and hope for the best.mtc scopes are nigh on impossibble to get hold off at the mo but northwest guncentre part;of cheshire gunroom(target sports old building)can still get some.its my local gunshop the new crowd are young but know what they are talking about and the price is right on guns and ammo best o
  6. always clean my c/f's but put a fowling round through before I go start my next shooting as a clean barrel does affect point of impact.cleaning does prolong barrel life.
  7. try cheshire gun room in stockport they're cheap and they do all the screw cuttin for edgar bros.do it in a day no need for proofin if your not sellin
  8. I use a wildcat on mine as its my all rounder crackin caliber.the best results ive had were hand loads;lapua brass nosler 120gr(brown tip) vhit N160 47.5gr. .5" at 100yrd.my rifles a sako and wouldn't take to 140gr.its a funny old world shooting are it could be me.
  9. not used 1 I was put off by the price.the 1 I saw was a quicksilver & cost £540.they must be lighter but I'll stick with my £215 wildcat & keep my wallet heavier. atb
  10. try asking your local rfd if he will order it for you from his shotgun shell supplier some will or try northwest gun centre in bolton they do reloading stuff.phone 1st though they were are building up stock last month when I was in but the lads were helpfull and glad to get want you need.
  11. wierauchs are bomb-proof,I shoot centre-fire now but still couldn't bring myself to part with my hw80 had it over 25yrs still as good as ever it was give or take a couple of springs & a custom stock.they are very easy to work on as well for a beginner.
  12. atn did 1 that could(you just changed the eye piece)but it had a massive objective & 60mm tube wieghed a ton & cost a bomb lots of bad points couldn't get rid of mine quick enough.get yourself a good quality add on,lookin at about £1500
  13. good value for sure are they the best? probably not,but do the job I use some components but not the press cant complain they get the job done as well as anything else ive used have to see how long they last.rcbs have gone through the roof so give em a whirl. atb
  14. all most positive they're made by hornaday.if Im right anywhere realy
  15. a good read & a 1st ed is worth a few bob
  16. i could imagin there ok to catch 10 rabbits but you rarely here whip/greys catching 40 rabbits plus. Where as it is common round the country for the collie or bull or alsation and bedlington x's to do this i mean if your like me and you'd be happy with 10 to 20 thats fine but to serious hunters these numbers just dont cut it. The stamina on the ones i can remember from the 70s was not to be underestimated then again the pure whippets were packed with stamina and a recovery rate after a short run second to non.IMHO a well bred whippet/grey first cross would have the same or more stamina as a
  17. love the x easy to own always found them easy to train.my 12yr old would in her day take 20,s on the lamp stright out the squat, work nets when ferretting with hand signals, bring back without even a bruise on the carkass she would even retrive for the gun.capable of 1 or 2 hares.she will be hard to replace.as to why brains, hybrid vigur, quick start turning ability.but my old man always rekond because way back when it was because they were cheap, greyhounds were expensive but you could get hold of 1 on loan to throw over your whippet
  18. try northwest gun centre(used to be target sports)bolton
  19. as much as you can afford.if you had a grand for full set up I would advise half on gun half on scope.dont be tempted to skimp on mounts they are just as important.
  20. it can be as cheap or expensive as you want to make it,but I would advise buying your own gear;the best part of reloading is the satisfaction of making your own ammo for your gun and if you get into it and Im sure you will it saves the hassel of divvying up the joint purchasses ATB
  21. you will have to pay the price of an FAC only which is about £50(dont know the right price,Ive always done mine together)you can ask for it to be up for renewal at the same time as your shotgun expires so you can renew them at the same time which is alot cheaper
  22. check with FAO.I would have though a rimfire.if you stated .224 calibre rifle then you would have been able to choose from the range of .22 CF's if it was for use at a club or you had an open ticket otherwise it would be the choice of the FAO depending on your land
  23. I would opt for the 12 just for the fact of more bullet options, some lighter bullets can rip themselves apart in tight twists and if you only want it for hunting or out to 300yrd 50 or 55gr are plenty
