  1. Mmm...I hadn't really thought of catching a hop. That might be an idea.
  2. Firstly thanks and it's nice to have a debate and even disagree with members on a sensible mature level. Let's just get one thing straight I care very little for what anti's think at the end of the day many of them are just plain and simply wrong I think that's something we can all agree on. It's the fence sitters, the layman and the general public who we need to prove to that what we do is ethicly decent I was brought up to act as a good ambassador for hunting/ferreting/lurchers/terriers whatever you chose to do. I could confidently argue my pro side of hunting until I'm blue in the face
  3. .20 ? I keep hearing about .20's and I like the concept, just not the availability of ammo.
  4. Firstly it's great that you are showing an interest in ferreting/working your dog even if it was a mistake and not your intention but to a dyed in the wool rabbit catcher and countryman it's attitudes like this that I truly dislike and find damaging to the rural way of life. I would love to have read that you're "getting into ferreting because you have a rabbit problem on crops or like the idea of the rabbit being a sustainable food source etc" The thought of bolting rabbits just purely to see your dog catch them doesn't sit well with me and in this day and age we all need to be very caref
  5. All, Their was an article on here at one time that was posted by a member touting the benefits of using the .177 over .22 . It was a pretty informative read, actually . Does anybody remember it or what happened to it ? I'd like to save it for some of the info. Aside from that, I am curious why you guys would use anything but .177 ? What I mean is , since I'm not restricted to ft. lbs. the way you guys are , it's a pretty simple matter of gaining energy by switching to a heavier pellet . No rocket science there . But if you're needing to stay under 12 ft. lbs, then why would you use an
  6. Thanks, Simon ! I hop in and out of here somewhat frequently, but hadn't been back in awhile as I really didn't have anything further to add with getting ready for my deployment and what not. Then several months ago, I got to working with some UK troops and we got to talking air rifles and hunting and it reminded me that I need to quit being a stranger over here .
  7. Rooster tails !! Trout and salmon can't help but nail rooster tails. Hell, most fish can't for that matter.
  8. Liked the page...great reads !!
  9. Hey, question...if a Yank wanted to attend one of these someday, ya know, meet everybody and do some shooting in the countryside ; what would I have to do to import my FAC compliant gun ? I have a couple that would meet the 12 ft, lbs. criteria , but then what as far as bringing it in with me ?
  10. Spearo here...unfortunantly I have to drive aways to get any good spearing . But I like it, it's a good sport.
  11. They sound absolutely horrid...all respect and love, but wow. I don't know if I could stomach it.
  12. Everybody's been wronged by everybody else at some point, history's a big place.. Where do you draw a line? Vikings, Romans, Celts, Gaels, Europeans, Moors, Saracens, Goths, Vandals, Christians, Muslims, British, French, Spanish, Dutch, Arabs, Turks, Germans, Americans, etc.. Why are some historoical 'wrongs' seen as more wrong than others? The past is there to be learned from, folk should be looking forward and moving on, instead of looking back trying to find a reason and someone else to blame for their problems in the here and now.. Perfect...
  13. It's kind of a bullshit stance for even a "Native American" to take. Member of the Shawnee Nation myself. All you have to do is read a little history to know that the tribes were as brutal to each other as any foreign invader . If , say, you were Sioux and wanted the hunting lands that the Cheyenne had, then you got rid of 'em . By any means necessary and collateral damage be damned. You started wild fires , threw carcasses of animals and people into their water supply to poison it ...you name it. Anything to either kill them off or make them move. But this notion of some kind of nobility
  14. Religion bringing peace . Hmmm, going to have to think on that one for awhile. That would be the ultimate paradox.
  15. And here it'd been such a nice thread of mutual brotherhood and and mourning for the lost.
  16. I remember a few years ago, you guys had a running comp going amongst yourselves . Guys would post pics and stories of that days shoot, with a photo of the days take and date. Do you guys not do that anymore ? It was kind of fun .
  17. When you think about it ,Lab, smart phones with 4G and quality video capability weren't quite as common as they are today . Flip phones were still pretty much 'it' . It still seems almost impossible that was 11 years ago . Jeez.
  18. Definitly will "Earth"...appreciate the advice and respect to your fallen .
  19. GTE, I'm US Navy . But I have a job that corresponds over to a similar US Army job class . So I'm working with the Army. They stole me . Damn body snatchers.
