  1. Gnasher I'm gonna have to say that I don't know enough of EBTs to know. I have only seen one EBT worked in my life so any opinion I had would be based on VERY few, if any facts. In a cross I am not looking for gameness in the BD sense of the word. I am not looking for a style per say. In fact I am of the opinion that the bulldog served well as an all purpose type of dog for a reason. My expectations of a cross are few, but my hopes are high as the bulldog in general has served many purposes. When I am looking for a catch dog, I don't go to a litter of pit dogs. I know some do.. but I feel like
  2. Damn...lol I heard Oklahoma and got all excited.
  3. I'll make you a deal. I'll gladly breed her to the Hoss dog. If you can hook me up with a couple of rolls of fresh Copenhagen Black. They don't sell it here in Texas and unfortunately it's my favorite.lol
  4. He's actually quite small. Around thirteen inches at the withers and fifteen pounds. I'd post some other pics of him but photobucket seems to be acting weird.
  5. I didn't breed the dog, and I don't regularly hunt bulldogs of any kind. This dog needed someone to hunt her, and I had a need for a dog like her. I'll take an Eli EBT cross on also in the not too distant future. Plus the guy that owned Darby will be able to get her back if he decides he wants to. It wasn't a difficult decision.
  6. Thanks Lusitano.. She'll be here in Texas soon and out in the feild the next day.
  7. He is a nice guy, and he's put a fair amout of work into Darby. It's obvious he cares for the dog, so if he decides he wants her back she'll be on her way. Until then we will hunt.
  8. He's in a situation where he needs to move her. I told him he could get her back if he decided he wanted to.
  9. I'm getting her from KawValley. I'm anxious to see how she works out.
  10. I'm gonna try this one out this winter. See how she gets along with the black and tan rock and roll band.
  11. Impossible to know without doing as Gnasher says and locating the man that bred her. For what it is worth she looks apbt enough, but some of the best bulldogs I ever saw looked half lab.
  12. Wow....seems to me they are sort of rubbing it in. Why else would they suggest another dog bred her, and then send pictures of two totaly different pups? I hope you pay them a surprise visit.. and let us know how it all turns out. It never ceases to amaze me the lengths to which some people will go to make a$$es of themselves.
  13. I don't know for certain but I believe the guy at Thunder rock is breeding away from the pet type. I've never seen one, but I've seen a working EBT. It was as good as any other bulldog type at anchoring game. Seemed to have enough wind for the task. I doubt the difference is as great between breeds as it is between individuals once a cross has been made. If I were choosing one dog of either breed though I would choose the apbt for many of the reasons you mention. Your program is unique Main. I bet there aren't many using the same recipe. And of those that are... how many are using it as a base
  14. For the record... hounds don't fit the bill. A terrier is a better fit in heavy brush country on most game.
  15. I'll use what I damn well please because it pleases me. Your needs are just that.. your own. I don't lead my dogs to the game, they lead me. Thanks for illustrating the point though...Proven means different things to different people. I have absolutely ZERO USE for a dog I have to keep on a lead. I don't know which dog you were referring to but if it's the dog in the avitar, I can post pics of injuries he's had hunting that won't last a minute on this board.
  16. Where did I say anything about 100% of anything Chief?
  17. I make passing mention of the fact that I buy jagdterriers that REQUIRE certificates to be bred, and you assume that what.... I leave the dogs at home and hunt the papers??lol You hunt anything that can move a track for miles through dust and cactus in the Texas heat?
  18. Look here buddy..... I'm not selling OR giving away anything here, other than common sense.. I am not advocating the sale of..... nor am I condemning the gifting of terriers. The topic is "Selling Proven Dogs." My advice was pretty straight forward in my oppinion. If you don't buy, or don't want to buy "proven dogs".... so be it. If you think there is no such thing, or that the sale of said dog is somehow wrong.... so be it. But to those that will, (as I have done on many occasion) buy dogs they believe to be "proven," I said where possible to take the dog hunting before you buy it
  19. It doesn't change the terriers nature. If it was a good worker before, it will be a good worker after. They can put on weight and become lazy. But that is easily controled at feeding time. I wouldn't do it under any circumstaces to a pup...but then I'm not a responsible pet owner.lol
  20. . What a lot of shite worker to worker dont gareuntee a pup will turn out a worker homework my arse selling So called working proven or what ever you want to call it. For finacail gain is not what terrier work is about times have changed any one sell Ing a true earth dog must be blessed and have a kennel full. selling the tools you need to do a job when your going to need them to do the next job or maybe the tools aint as good as the tools you have in your tool shed eh and you just want shut !!!!!!! Just hope your tools dont break and your left with no spares eh MIND YOU JUST GO BUY
  21. That is a great position to be in. I could probably go for quite a while without buying one. But I don't mind paying for a dog, especially when the seller is an honest man who's sent me first class terriers from day one. To tell the truth he's doing me the favor.
  22. All it takes to aviod all the drama is to take the proven dog hunting yourself. If the man doing the selling doesn't agree, and you buy it anyway, or you were too busy to see for yourself... who's to blame? Same goes for pups... If you buy a pup without doing your homework, is it the sellers fault that it fails to meet your expectations?? Was it the price tag that changed the dogs DNA into that of a shteater? Half or better of choosing the right pup begins and ends in starting with the right litter. That means doing your homework, and not taking shortcuts. If you buy a dog based on a sales
  23. I don't know much... but it seems to me hunters are in the position that they are because people are a liitle to quick to tell the next man what he should, or shouldn't do with his dogs. Here's the deal... If you decide that buying or selling dogs is offensive. Don't buy or sell dogs. At a minimum each of us should stand for the next mans right to own and hunt the dog of his choice. If you buy... or or gifted a dog or pup, you are going to find plenty of reason to like or dislike the animal and the guy you got it from seperate from whether or not you paid for it. It will succeed or fai
