    Road running behind a car and plenty off free running and you dog should be top nick before the season but you would see dogs real fitness until he as had 6 or 7 nights out lamping or coursing during the day.

    Seen dogs start off very young and then up jacking but seen some start off the same way and turn good. Also seen stuff start late and jack and others start late and become good.There are good and bad points in starting a dog young or holding him back its really up to the owner in which way they think is right to bring on a pup. If you have brought your pups on late or started them early and this works for you then why change it. Have did both and have had no problems either way.

    I'm cringing just reading that, i'd bet my savings account at some point down the line your gonna have deaths............ spot on had dogs 25 years (lurchers, and other breeds) and it only takes 1 dog to have a(off day) and you are in the shit if they kick off. Reason because they carnt get away from each, other thats why.! Ive got a 10 month old bullxgrey Tod a big strong pup, he is 26in 75lb big bugger. My other lurcher is Bryn 1x collie grey 25in 60lb 4 in sep. They get on great (now) as Tod is still very puppy and likes to play with Bryn, Tod favourite game is called lockin

    road work is the best for any lucher and free running all running dogs should have plenty off road work.

    Dogs in good condition speedie are they all from the same litter. black and tan bitch is almost 7 mother to blue dog and red and white bitch what way is the mother bred shes of the black assassin and the sligo express Icey yer back i thought yea were dead or had sunstroke after a days hunting Feel like and prop look like am dead that was a hard week end.No hunting for me but wont be long till the season is in. are yea sure i hear that some of yer mates are over and back to lizzies place Could not till you where or who that is,but do walk the mountain every 2n

    you can run your dogs on the road and walk them all the time but you wont see the differnce untill there out hunting 2 3 days a week you should have fit dog after a bout 3 weeks imo.

    l send both off my dogs to get shaved think it helps a lot over the summer months £45 for both off the dogs to get it done.

    When this fox dogs, dogs that you are saying killing 3,4 a night 4,5 nights or days a week when does the dog get time to heel because you cant do that many with out getting a hurt.

    Best dog l have seen is a mates dog.Big powerful dog almost has them killed on impact but what l like about this dog is how quick he can finish the job off without taking much stick. (deerhound x wheaten x bull x greyhound)

    The question was can whippet do fox and yes they can but they can get a lot off hurt doing so with not having the jaw power or strength to finish it off quickly but can they every now and then off course they can.

    a whippet would'nt have the same jaw power as most KILLING TERRIERS Your right there have seen terriers have foxes dead before you have even got to them.It really depends on the whippet size and heart my point is there is no reason why a good size whippet cant take on a fox.

    Its OK keeping the dogs fit over the summer but they need a rest as well because there just after a hard season and another one is just around the corner. My dogs get 2,3 hours over the mountain one day then a day off rest.Then 2,3 mile road walk then day off rest and just keep this up over the summer. Training really starts at the end off July where the dog would start getting run behind car picking up the miles the closer the season is. But as people have said there is running fit then there is hunting fit
