i always find early morning is best for them they are the most active then, you can go late afternoon but you time is cut off when it gets dark. they are out pretty much all day but defo early morning is when they are most active and will be looking for your bait. Looking forward to the write up from you trip. Adam

I've not bated them in before but I have read of it done over a few days using nuts in a feeder topped up every few days for a week or so then you will have an established feeding area to hit. I not sure if putting the bait out when you arrive will have a great affect as a number of squirrels would need to find it before it became a firm spot to snipe. As always there is no harm in trying it out perhaps a bit of peanut butter on a number of trees out to 35yards to increase the likelyhood of it being found. Good luck with it let us know the results. 177 or 22 for hunting
Adam16 replied to paulredtop's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
This is the longest running debate in airgunner history, its really personal preference I use .177 for all of my hunting and find it very good for all types of situations some will say only use .22 but they all have their own pros and cons. My advice is use what your happy with and do enough practice on paper until you can be spot on 100% of the time so as not to wound an animal and cleanly dispatch your quarry every time. Adam -
you won't go far wrong with that mate, they wouldn't have been around so long if they were no good. Shame i got rid of mine but as you can see davy on here makes good use of it. Happy shooting. Adam

yeah it is a .177 I'll be holding on to it for while yet as my paper work hasn't gone in just yet but I'll post it up if I decide to move it on. Thanks for the heads up on the glos gun company, just had a look at some of his vids and he seems to know what he's about I think I'll have a trip out there. Cheers Adam

Thanks guys, Davy, that was with the Air Ranger, I infact sold the S410k (which I see you are having great results with after a bit of tinkering) after buying a HW100tk but im going after my FAC now so may get shot of that and the ultra just keeping the daystate and what ever else I buy on ticket. I don't know anything about the gent there, having a look round the site he seems to know what he's doing i may give him a bell regarding a tune for my HW if he does pcp's i'll keep you posted if your thinking of using him. Cheers Adam

Just a quick one on my trip last week, went out about 9am with squizzers on my mind got to my permission and started my stalk. The heavy leaf litter wasn't doing me any favours or so I thought when 20yards in front a bushy tail stood up so I take aim, settle and then twiched when I took the shot the pellet went just over, so cursing I reload and he happily stood and waited for me and then the same thing but pellet went just under. Now I know it was my first time out for a month but that was just silly in the mean time he was off onto the bottom of the nearest tree but stopped long enough for m

ok guys thanks very much for the replys. i suppose i will have to wait until my cert comes through and check what it says but hopefully it doesnt restrict me and ill be ok for any cleared land. cheers adam
-
cheers LD, i was hoping it would be that simple. other than my main permission i have one or two places where i have been invited but dont have perminant access i know that the keeper only shoots there with his mates and so no problems with being in a difficult situation in that way. it would have been a right pain if every time i had the opportunity to shoot on some other ground i would have had to send a form of some sort to the police. Thanks again Adam

Im applying for my FAC/SGC and when i get it im sure its going to be a closed ticket until they feel i can have it opened. I fully understand the difference of the two but with a closed ticket, if you get more land which has already been passed for the calibres you want to use can you go ahead and shoot there or do you still have to send the details into the FEO and wait for them to ok you? if so does this take long? Thanks Adam P.S. should be a fair few questions to come as i make the step up from air rifle to FAC

thats a great price for all the kit you got. with regards to the pump, simple thing to check is the bleed valve closed can be an oversight. If its not that check everything from the pump to the adapter are tight with un-damaged orings where the joins are. if that doesnt work then a call to the maker should help solve the problem. hope that helps Adam

It doesn't come with a bottle but has a silencer and scope and has had a full service by Webley a month ago and not been used since. that sounds fair enough to me then, give it a go and see that you like it but other than that nothing to stop you parting with your cash. if you havent got a bottle or pump you can pick one up fairly cheap on the net around 50 quid for a second hand pump. ive not used one but remember a write up in one of the mags they seemed to like it. as with any gun look out for rust and knocks. see if its been serviced recently as it is probably a few years old. other thing about pcp's if you have never had one is charging gear you will need access to a bottle or pump which you may not have thought of. other than that make sure its the right gun for you. Adam -
had one as my first proper air rifle they are very well built and accurate only thing i found was it was quite heavy but other than that its a top rifle. Adam

its quite complicated you have to empty it fully (shoot it off) when it gets to 50bar odd it will empty itself. then take off the stock and shroud and pressure gauge, put it in a vice (with rubber padding either side) then use a strap to undo the bottle and it is on tight. dont attempt to do it if your not 100% sure and make sure the gun is empty before even thinking about getting the bottle off i did a swap with another bloke who took the bottle off for me while i watched so these are my notes from what he did. then when you put the new one on or the original back on use some molycote grease

i dont think it can be done if you contact these people they may be able to help, http://www.rowanengineering.com/index.htm Adam

try it on a full charge make sure the bottle is on properly check that the o ring is ok if not then may have to go to a gun smith, may need a service. Adam

if its the mark three there is enough wood about 2inches back from the lip to take a stud, take the stock off and have a look, you will have to take the safety catch out of the side to take the stock off IIRC. my mate had one that i fitted studs to obviously if you put a clamp on you will probably have to take it off everytime you want to fill it. Cheers Adam

i was out after squirrels a few years ago and followed one for ages through the trees then i broke cover to go after it and it dove into a summer drey so at this point i take a shot at the underside of the drey to see if i could get him to poke his head out about 3seconds after the shot he rolled out and fell at my feet stone dead i didn't expect the pellet to go through the drey or i wouldn't have taken the shot but must have just found a thin area that happened to be in line with the sqizzers heart Adam

AA S410 TDR POWER PROBLEMS
Adam16 replied to mark01856's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
The general theme is that some of the Air Arms guns are sent out slightly under the 11ftlb mark to avoid it going over after it has been run in but if its a new one im sure you can send it straight to AA and they can up the power to what you want with what pellets you want. Hope this help Adam -
Davy good stuff ive sent you a pm reply glad the gun is going well Cheers Adam

thanks for the warm welcome Adam
