  19. ive been shooting a long time mate, ive not owned an airgun for around 20yrs but at a young age, bought up on one and as with most youngsters unsupervized,i shot at what ever moved which was killable with an airgun but since then, the only thing i have shot which i can truthfully remember was whilst pigeon decoying. a bird approached the decoys, looked identical to a woodie coming in so i dropped it. that too was a woodcock. lamping,i would NEVER shoot an eye in the lamp,i like to see the out line of the target species.
  20. i see a certain post and as there are many youngster and people new to the sport,i thought it wise to start this thread although i doubt it will be ignored
  21. Due to a topic i have just read,i think its advisable to everyone new to this sport of shooting to first identify the animal/bird in the sights to be in season and the chosen quarry. on the lamp,a deer laid on long grass could easily be mistaken for a rabbit. If in doubt,DO NOT take the shot,it WILL be there for another day!!! all the best The same applies to a long or moving shot.if you feel you are unable to place the shot in a killing area,DO NOT take it.a miss may well result in a lamp shy animal or a hit will result in a painfull death or life.. As said, leave it,you WILL see i
  22. The night I shot the woodcock was pretty poor visability and if i'm honest I just saw the eye in the lamp... I wasn't exactly sure what it was until I walked over and picked it up from some distance away. As it happened though, a guy who I work with had actually always wanted to try woodcock so it didn't go to waste. Rick. not being funny but unless you can make out what you have the cross hairs on,you should not have your finger on the trigger and certainly NOT taken the shot. however, you should of eaten it as its very good eating.
  23. why did you shoot the woodcock?
