  1. When you get a pup or young terrier do you ever get the feeling that the little fecker is gonna be good? When you watch them playing and just general behavior are there any sings that you look for? I saw a pair of lakeland terrier pups that some bloke had at a show not so long ago and they looked like they were gonna work. They were only pups that he was bringing them on probably only 4 or 5 months old but when I looked at them and stroked them I got the feeling that they were gonna be good dogs. What attributes do you lads recognise as good ones in your terriers? Cheers lads,
  2. I'd say its up to you mate. It's your dog! Do what you want when you want but beware............. All lurchers are different so you can not say a particular age. Just be sensible about it and think about the long run. Many useful dogs will be f****d up with premature entering. Push them to hard and you risk injury, the dog opening up etc. My pup is 9 months goin on 10. JPT
  3. Well pleased with my pup for catching her first rabbit yesturday but the only trouble was that I didn't see the catch! I wondered if she had actually caught it herself because its guts were hanging out but I got her to drop it and I had a closer look. It was definatley alive only seconds before as it was still warm. I just hope she isn't going too be hard mouthed. She nailed it big time! Cheers, Jon :clapping:
  4. Phil have you any pictures of your bitch pup? I was wondering if any of the other lads who had a pup from John had any pictures on here? Can't wait for winter now to take her out with my mates lurcher and let her see what its all about. I will be letting her run after the rabbits we shoot to build her confidence up. It's the same as picking up a sitter anyway so............ Any more pics????

  12. if you crossed greyhound with whippet you would have 1/2 and 1/2 yeh? you keep back a dog and a bitch. if you then crossed deerhound with saluki you would also have 1/2 and 1/2 yeh? you keep back a bitch and a dog. if you then crossed the 2 longdogs together you would have a 1/4 of each breed yeh? if you used the dog from greyhound x whippet and crossed it with the bitch from deerhound x saluki would the results be the same as crossing a bitch from greyhound x whippet with the dog from deerhound x saluki? would they be totally different to the eye but very similar ge

    First Gun

I have gone for the Weihrauch 95k instead. It feels a lot better than the bsa lightning to me. The overall finish of the bsa made me choose the other make. Hopefully i will have some stories to share soon as I am getting my new gun tomorrow! Those lightnings are shit hot though coz my mate borrowed one and it felt nice to shoot but I only seen it at night though. When I had a look in the shop the weihrauch stood out so................
  14. Is this gun a good buy? I have seen it for sale on target sports for £300 with scope, pellets and bag. Any one suggest another option? I borrowed a wierach 97 k but found it un necessaerly heavy! Cheers, JON

  18. I have got an irish terrier mate 20 inch at the shoulder. Basically a bigger version of a red fell terrier they have a good coat that needs stripping so you would get a rough litter. I work him on bunnys, rat and take him out shooting ducks etc. He has moved a few foxes from cover but aint got the legs to catch them! Again he is not to good on the lamp as he is not as fast as rabbits but he tries and on the odd chance he gets one. He likes a scrap as well but only with terriers! He is great with my lurcher and my mates but hates his beddy! Some pictures of me mutt not to recent but all I have
