    Treadmill????

At the ripe old age of 40 I'm leaving the weights behind (with the exception of deadlifts and squats) with the intention of concentrating on gymnastic stuff for a while. Combination of boredom, niggling injuries and fancying a new challenge. Gotta say, it's great (if you go slowly with the increased probabliity of tendon, ligament injury etc). The beauty of it is I can do it anywhere...when i go out fishing on my kayak I head to a little island and pop the rings up in a tree and, hey presto, my gym is ready. Unfortunately most folk can't handle the slow, incremental improvements and te
  2. Thanks bud he is very Athletic for a mastiff type and that is the idea behind it for me a fitter healthyer working mastiff type dog compared to most mastiffs we see about today that struggle to even walk let alone run for miles on end. There is a high percentage on bullgreayhound in there make up infact i have just put the male above over my bull x bitch. My first ever breeding so am excited about it. The bitch.... There are not many mastiff types out there that will do this. Quality looking dogs, all of yours Best of luck with the breeding Anubis. Very interested in
  3. Give them their due when it comes to strength/endurance some of them snooty university boys are phenomenal athletes ! Yes, every morning at 6 am they were there, often waiting for me to open up in the winter months. Circuits, weights, time trials...whatever it was they gave it 100%. They really surprised me because the pride they had in their sporting performance seemed on a par with their academic efforts. Add the fact the heavyweights didn't ever have to starve themselves to make weight and you've got a recipe for a robust sportsman, unlike the lower weight who had a precarious balanc
  4. I used to work at a snooty university's sports department (one of the two who compete in some boat race shite) and I trained with the rowing team for a bit. Very impressive athletes but I've gotta say, rowing on a machine is boring as f**k and I doubt many folk would keep it going for more than a week or so (then it gets passed onto someone else who'll use it a couple of times before putting it away in the garage or under the bed) . You'd be better off finding something you enjoy mate-and get the tucker and booze sorted out
  5. Looks a very sensibly constructed dog, mate. I never see 'em like this these days unfortunately. Very nice
  6. This is something I hear a lot of. The problem with a lot of the EBTs is they don't have the desire to bite owt (which I suppose is better for pet ownership/non-working dogs) and so, therefore, we never get to witness what mouths they can have. Fortunately you have one that isn't shy with her mouth. Good wee cross you've got there
  7. Talking of EBTs. Whatever happened to the guys with some very impressive looking dogs from the Welsh breeder? Do they not post here these days? I remember a lot of folk talking highly of his breeding. It'd be nice to see how they're getting along
  8. Very nice conditioned strong dogs on this thread Keep 'em coming lads
  9. Nice pic KawValley. i know people who swear by the EBT crosses and that one looks lean and capable
  10. Nice looking beast there What can you tell us about it? What would you like to know mate Hi mate. What breeds are in his make-up? Size/weight etc. Any more pix? He looks in fine fettle Cheers
  11. Nice looking beast there What can you tell us about it?
  12. Awesome looking dogs. Any ever went abroad to work boar?
  13. What about health benefits to lifting? As I'm getting older I think weights are absolutely crucial (or other types of resistance exercise) to remain robust and well. I have an acquaintance in his 70s who can lift more or less the same as me in the DL (nothing outrageous but over 2x bodyweight) and while other oldtimers are falling and breaking hips etc he's lifting some very impressive weight and walking about like a very robust 40 year old. Also, Hopkins and his inbetween round press-ups showing the world that our old concept of ageing is a crock of sh*t...if you look after yourself with some
  14. Not sure id agree with that.....personally i got big after being a doorman not before Depends whether a door needs a visual deterent or someone who can get the job done i spose.........most folk i know just want to get big and strong because its the most basic physical quality a man can have if your that way inclined......nothing too complicated about it in my opinion, waking up in the morning feeling strong and healthy is a great feeling, simple. Very good point. That's why I pester the missus to do simple stuff like deadlifts and OHP...in a few days her back pain completely went away.
  15. I find my arms are doing mighty fine simply by popping out a few of these every morning. Simples, innit
  16. Awesome looking dogs, lietome What can you tell us about their guarding instinct, suspicion towards strangers, intelligence etc?
  17. Some of those Alaunts look the business. Do you have any pix mate? Either the Alaunt or anything they've produced bred with the Mastiff? Cheers
  18. This is true. I would say that 90 % of the Dogos I've seen in Europe are big, white Boxers in terms of character and function; however, do your research and you'll get a worthwhile dog, to say the least

    Best Multi Gym

There are so many different ways of getting in good shape and, although I like weights myself, I find that mixing up different types of training is what keeps most people on the straight and narrow. With this in mind I always recommend one book for people wanting to get in shape(actually his other books are just as good, but this one concentrates on having minimal specialised equipment): http://www.rosstrain...vergymless.html His video shows you that he walks the walk himself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1t-ini-Ru4w&feature=player_embedded Love his use of furniture slide
  20. Cheers for the heads-up Off to watch it now
  21. Yeah, I've just watched the one up to now, but I immediately thought "Why the f**k don't they just stick them and move on?" I suppose it's for the delicate sensibilities of the non-THL viewing public? Surely they are just killing them? Makes absolutely no sense to just move them on to become a plague elsewhere?!
  22. Some good vids to get boxing fans in the mood for the tear-up this weekend http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMV0vGFCFKQ&feature=player_embedded http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Qas5iXGFvA&feature=player_embedded
  23. I'll try and get some transferred from the phone onto the computer tonight or tomorrow. She came out pure white and just seems a low quality, snipey Dogo but she is an athletic beast alright. Will be interesting to see how she turns out
  24. I've got a Podenco-based lurcher. Very noisy little b*****d but that's part of his job out in the field; also, he lets the big dogs know when anyone's about the property so he doubles as a very alert warning dog, as well.
  25. I've got a Dogo/Galgo (Spanish greyhound) cross here. Just waiting for her to mature to see what she's made of as she's only 9 months and daft as a brush at the moment. I went to a national breed show a while back and was horrified to see the state of the breed in Europe-not one person was hunting their Dogo, just all sad sorts parading their status dogs around the show ring. Gutting stuff really as I was expecting some interesting chats with the owners. Personally, I'd stick with the tried and tested ingredients that you guys have over there
