  1. Haha! We were playing about with the new i-phone and me and the dog actually ran on different days, except for the last few scenes where he was catching me and we were in the same shot. Not being a runner, my hamstrings are still killing me. Thought it was a bit of fun to show off the sierra where I live to folks interested in warm-weather training on some of the training fórums I frequent. Glad you had a chuckle
  2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkjRm4OAzdE My lad's a fitter type that can run alright.
  3. Some good ideas on this thread, lads BORDERSCOT- Yeah mate, things are going spot on here...and even better now that I've got this thing to organise. Hunting and fitness are my two big passions and I'm in a good place for both. I'm going to get in touch with Rannoch at the weekend when I've structured my ideas a bit better so there's some definitive shape to 'em. The missus is constantly going on about the 100 rep challenge and, funnily enough, even mentioned it the other night to the mayoress who seemed very interested in the concept for all the inactive locals. Cheers. von corris-I
  4. Thanks all for the advice. Will get back on the computer later to follow up with you all
  5. I had a very interesting convo with the mayoress of my village yesterday evening and she's basically given me the go-ahead to crack on with setting up a fitness convention here to give tourism the shot in the arm it desperately needs. Now I'm not completely clueless when it comes to this stuff as I trained to become a PT back in 2000, read a few strength and conditioning blogs and mix up my own training with everything from rope-climbing to sandbag stuff, kettlebells, barbells, gymnastic rings etc, however, my knowledge tends to be on the more extreme end of things (Ross Enamait-inspired stuff
  6. Good thread. Looking forward to the weekend to watch 'em all
  7. I remember a holiday I had up the west coast of Scotland Ray in 2000. Took off on my own and never changed The Who tape I had in the motor. Got a live gig that I still put on when I'm cranking out the burpees-gives me that extra edge

What I like about kettlebells personally is quite often I only have, say,10 minutes spare and I can get an awesome workout in, whereas it'd take me that amount of time loading and unloading barbells and more often than not I'd do nowt. This probably happens, on average, 2 or 3 times a week and over the course of a year, that's probably well over a hundred mini-workouts that wouldn't have got done if a kb hadn't been lying out in the front garden. Dumbbells don't lend themselves to high rep clean and overhead work, at least with me and my injuries, so the kb's are an awesome tool for me. Havin

BORDERSCOT, Mahler's even worse than that I think...he's a vegan but, like you say, a tidy chap from what I've seen of him. Strong b*stard, too! Yep, I train outside all the time; even through most of the winter Got a rope tied to a tree where I walk the mutts in the morning and do some climbs, calisthenics etc and then give them a six miler by the mountain bike in the evening. Good place to live for looking after yourself here, although everybody else prefers the machines of the gym (luckily for me, I've always got the mountains and lakes to myself outside of hunting season )

Gitano - I have trained with Rannoch countless times and am lucky to be able to count him as a friend... He makes sense...check out his 100 Rep Challenge and fire him some suggestions for 100 reps of your choice...he'll be glad to hear from you... I know Steve has been to Spain with the IKFF several times...check the website out for contacts over there...if you ever get the chance to train or qualify with Steve grasp the chance...let's just say it's character building... Good to hear from you...take care... Simple Stength Training In Edinburgh - Jan 2010 Yeah mate,

Cheers again for the info and vids BORDERSCOT The kettlebells was something I contemplated competing in a while back, but the problem is I'm in rural Spain and would really need to hook up with somebody to show me correct technique. I'm currently just flinging them about like a loon Although I clean and push press the single 32 kg 30 times, I'm sure anybody who had a clue would p*ss themselves laughing at my technique(or complete lack of), I'm just using the bells as a way to mix my training up while maintaining some basic strength levels. Also, I love just picking up the couple of 32s and w

Aye, Cotter is an impressive dude . I enjoy watching his stuff. I read a bit on IGX fórum for my fitness info, mate, so I keep an eye on Denisov and the other names in the GS world. You no doubt seen his record with 2 x 40 kgs? Tomo, I was just toying with the idea of Long Cycle Clean and Jerk with the 32s, not a 50 minute workout with them. I reckon young Ivan in the vid that BORDERSCOT put up would even struggle with a 50 minuter, never mind a 158lber like me

Good info BORDERSCOT I've got a couple of 32's here in my garden and I'm toying with Girevoy Sport...but I have a feeling it might be nasty especially after the 5 minute mark. Ever competed yourself?
  14. A mate of mine's got a big hunting/agility/general dog show weekend in Andalucía and is hoping to make it a big annual event. If anybody happens to be about, maybe on holiday on the Costas or even living down this way, get your self along. Here's the link http://eventosayuntamiento.blogspot.co.uk/ Cheers all
