Some breeds of dog need to be started on a lamp rather than in the day, so they dont hunt up then once they have got to grips with the lamp take them out in the day. There is nothing worse than a dog hunting up when the light goes out, scaring all the quarry in. this is only the way i do it. Ive alaways been told to do it this way and it seems to work for me anyway. A mate has got a dog started him off in the day and when he takes it lamping if he doesnt catch he runs round scarring everything in. But hes a good ferreting mouching dog
