  3. lol,...I was there and can't believe! I still think sometimes was there someone else there that shot it , but I know there was'nt. I wonder what the odds were? Could I not of just won the lottery instead. P.S good shot with the Catapult!
  4. Never with an air rifle but have done it with a rimfire, I clipped the top of the rabbits head and heard the bullet ping off a stone and a jackdow dropped stone out of a tree 70 yards away.

I'm not sure if this has been posted already, Berkutchi Wolf Hunt.
  6. I'm happy with my Saluki's but I'd like to get a couple of Aboriginal Afghan Hounds, Kazakh Tazi's or Taigan's, in the hope that they would be even more robust than the salukis and could stand the scottish winters better, although my latest saluki's are thick coated type so they are good with the cold. :thumbs-up:
  7. Being a salukX I'd think he would get idea of lamping and returning to you ready for you to "provide" him with the next rabbit to chase fairly quickly. My own saluki's will only hunt up their own game if I am not providing game to them ie spotlighting rabbits so they can see them, they are quick to learn that they have more of a chance with the lamped rabbits than when they go off on their own in the darkness. Just keep getting out with him picking the easiest rabbits to slip on initially. :thumbs-up: Everything about Saluki's says efficiency, when he gets the idea you will see that
  8. Cracking looking Saluki, what are the Parents? I think the burying is just one of those Saluki trait's they can very primative and instinct often takes over, my Saluki dog is fairly 'normal' but the bitch is like another species. I've seen photo's of multiple salukis sleeping piled on top of wardrobes and bookcases etc.
  9. yes my other half has been mentioning a bedlington whippet for a while now but there not the most attractive of dogs are they!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhh how can you say that - they are stunning wee dogs! I got my first Beddy x when I was pregnant with my first child. She was a fantastic natured dog, great with everyone and proved to be a great wee rabbiting dog too. Have to agree though that any sighthound, esp Beddy x or Deerhound types, would be good Heres some pics.
  10. Don't worry about her pins showing, she would be over weight if they did'nt show. :thumbs-up:
  11. Excellent am well pleased for you!! I recognise that pup. Well done. I look forward to hearing how she gets on. Regards Mark
  12. Lovely looking bitch. She looks to be very like my Saluki bitch, she is also 23".
  13. Travellers have good taste in dogs All my dogs are from travellers or are desendant from travellers dogs and from the NE England (except for my Saluki dog which is from travellers way down south).
  14. Lovely looking bitch, do you have any better pics from side? Do you know anything of the Saluki used?
  15. I've lost 2 dogs running rabbits through woods, both where bought as adults and therefore had probably only run in open fields. I do the same as Whin getting them out in the woods tripping over logs branches and ditches etc as pups. I've never hunting with whippets so I don't how well they are suited too hunting in woods, I hunt with full saluki's these days as find their running style and good feet keep them out of trouble. I would say that 75% of my hunting is done in woods and on rough ground.
  16. All great films mentioned so far. A few of my favourites off the top of my head, A Beautiful Mind, The Green Mile, The Constant Gardener, Dances With Wolves. Forgot about The Man from Snowy River and Return to Snowy River.
  17. Toyota 4Runner 3.0td (now Lifted 2") Lada Niva 1.7i (also lifted 2" since this photo) still my favourite 4x4. My O/H's Freelander 2.0 td
  18. How much daily exercise (free running) is getting each day? I find with the pures anyway if you don't give them enough they will take it for themselves. If you are the boss there will be a distance from you to your dog where he will not attempt to disobey you, I think you need to start keeping him close very close and call him back to you and release him to that short distance, when he responds give huge praise, high pitched sqeaky voice the works, if he doesn't instant fury roar at him, the minute he stops and reponds squeaky and praise again. You are aiming to give the clearest must unm
  19. Hi Ferreter Joe, Its a Canon Powershot S2 IS, it has a good video mode too.
  20. It was a lovely sunny day today so we thought we would have a walk up the moor with the pack and the camera, here is the result; Farouq had a great time chasing his mother everywhere, although she did get a bit snappy with him at times due to her coming into season.
  21. Do you know the Saluki's breeding? I love hunting out day time rabbits, great sport. All the best for the future
