hi i live in the forest of dean and spend a lot of time in the woods and ive never seen a wild boar . dont get me wrong im not saying there not their but i think the chances of you coming across them and them attacking you or your dogs are pretty slim especially not enough to warrant carrying a crossbow im also not saying that they wont attack people . dont forget at some point these animals did come from farms or are decendents from animals that did so they must still be used to some human contact . anyway where abouts do you live and what parts of the forest of dean do you camp out in

hi thanks for all the replys . is it chances are ive had two dodgy batches one after another probally not . Will now be looking at my technique and maybe as mentioned whether iam snatching the knot down rather than a firm pull . The twine was bought as 4 ply hemp or so i understood it to be . Would a newby net maker be able to tell the difference between hemp and flax / would somebody be able to tell me from a photo ? . At least i can now rule out the fact that hemp breaks occasionly and start looking at other things thanks for all advice
-
hi firstly unsure as to whether posting in the right section but choose here rather than the ferrets and ferreting section. I started making some purse nets a few months ago with some hemp that had sat in the loft for probally the last seven years. Iam new to net making and this was my first attempt . I noticed then that the hemp occasionly broke but i put this down to being old . After finishng these nets i then bought 3 spools of 4 ply hemp at the midland . After making a start with my new hemp ive had the same thing happen the twine always seems to snap when pulling the knots down tight and

after (trying) to make some purse nets for the last god knows how long ive decided to dig out the old ones i was given 5/6 years ago . the nets iam making at the moment are 4ft long but when i searched through these nets today the longest seems only 3ft a lot even shorter . they have caught rabbits before and probally will but my nets that im making seem huge compared to these which got me thinking can a net be too big i know its a case of how longs a peice of string sort of thing as to different size holes . but would a large purse net work/purse the same on a small hole as it would on a big
