  1. hi all, this is a very sad day for me,i have decided to sell my lakeland/russell due to personal reasons, she is 12 months old and is a very good natured bitch, she`s good with other dogs and people, she loves a bit of ratting and rabbitting.(not a digging dog) her biggest problem is her recall, once she gets on a sent of a rabbit she`s off.what she needs is a good secure garden to be trained properly by some one who understands her needs. around sheep she does need training, she barks at them! when i bought her from the age of 6 months, she used to live out side, but whilst living with us she ha
  2. hi people, just to add my pennies worth; many of our dogs we`ve had over the years have died from some form of cancer,we have put this down to feeding them a complete dog food (in my opinion)i feel that theres not much goodness in most of these products. for my grandad had many a dogs, which were always bought up on scraps, and none died of any desease, just old age or killed by an accident.also my dads dogs were bought up the same way and had the same results. I think that feeding complete is more of a fashion that feeding raw. After all its convient for people, just a cup full out of the ba
  3. Hi, here we have my ford fiesta courier van, it’s in a tatty condition but the engine is a good one. It’s only done 52,500 miles from new. Its has brand new glow plugs, new fuel filter and a new Bosch battery. Its also has a tow bar with electric’s and a brand new spare tyre. Being diesel it’s very economical to run, being non-turbo 50-60mpg,its also power assisted steering and drives real nice, It has glass sides, not metal (see the pics) I’ve infilled them with white plastic from the inside. It does have a couple of faults, the back door handle is missing and does need replacing

  10. hi all, i was wondering, when is the best time of the day to go ratting,or does it not really matter, also, whats the best way of making a smoke machine?(cheaply)ha ha. the reason for this is,my local farmer has a rat invasion, and asked if i could get rid of them, there`s loads of rats every where,i took a peep through the grain store door, and they were running every where, this may be hard to believe but,the sides of the barn are corrigated tin, and they are 8ft tall, and where they over lap,a rat climbed up it in front of my very eyes,up o

  12. hi there, all i feed my dog on is,raw meat and cooked veg,i just buy the value mince from my local super market, and cook up a load of veg (carots, cabbage, potato, sweed, beans,)and freeze them. my dog is a terrier,so she dosen`t eat alot, just a handfull of mince, and a handfull of veg, it goes down a treat. her coat is in good condition, and shinny, her nose is wet, nice bright eyes, her weight is spot on, and she has bags of energy, so it works for her,and i feel good feeding her good food. hope this helps. tillylamp.
  13. hi all, would any body use these e collars for recall,? only my terrier is coming on a treat, but her recall is,(to be honest)quite bad, when out walking her, she will slip through a hole in a wire fence, and she`s gone,i will call her,and make some interesting noises, but she just dosen`t lisen, i got her when see was 8 months old, and she had no training at all,her basic training is getting much better know, but her recall is really frustrating me know, as if it was better, i could go and do far more with her, another example is,when she is running through a big patch of brambles, stingers,or hedg
  14. hi longdog 13, thankyou for your advice,i will try to find someone who goes ratting, to see if i can tag along. as regards to the basic training, i bought the dog from a guy at 8 months old, she lived in a very small run with a kennel, she had,had no training what so ever, not even sit, stay, lay down or come hear, and was barely let out of the run at all, like i say,i have only owned for 10 weeks now,and i am doing the basic training, and she has come on leaps and bounds, but it seems to go,1 step forward, and 2 steps back at times, especially the recall. thanks tillylamp.
  15. hi every one, i am a newbie to this site, and wanted to pick a few brains! i have a lakeland cross jack russell which is 10 months old now,ive had her for 10 weeks, she has already caught a small rabbit, and i let her play with the rabbits i have shot, my question i have is"how do i start her on rats?...... also on the last two occasions when off the lead she had not come back when called. She was gone for 2 hours, but then came back as if she had done nothing wrong ! She also has a tendancy to go "deaf" when she has her nose to the ground or something has taken her interests. Now...is t
