  1. So whats the meaning of this topic . Is the KC changing the name of the Parson Russell Terrier to the Jack Russell Terrier or is it registering a new cross bred terrier with up to a dozen other breeds in it and calling it a Jack Russell Terrier like the KC have done here in Australia ?
  2. There were two other pictures of Sparticus posted on this site. One was of him side on in a picture frame which was supposed to be hanging on KG,s wall and another with him standing on a blue flooring with a yellowish fawn background. On the 5 generation pedigree I have here shows Sparticus was out of Rags,( a JP bred bitch) sired by KG,s Blackjack.
  3. As far as I know there are two stock options; standard sporter and thumbhole Can the thumbhole stock be used left as well as right handed and are there any aftermarket left and right handed thumbhole stocks available in the UK for the 1517.
  4. Does the thumbhole stock come standard on the 1517 or is it freely available in the UK.
  5. The two terriers side by side in the old kodak picture looks just like the ones that were brought out here to Australia in the mid ,s that so many lines here are based on.
  6. It,s been illegal since 2004 to dock a dogs tail in Australia with no exceptions for working animals unless it has been broken or injured.
  7. $10 for a scalp paid by the government in the state of Victoria only. Nothing from cats.
  8. interesting --- why did`nt the parson take offf -- lack of interest ? cant remember the name someone was over trying to buy up all the best parson stuff with big money early / mid 90s .. Lack of interest and an ultra small gene pool plus you can have 20 of them half sawn off corgi blooded tennis ball chasers in a suburban backyard and you wouldn,t know they were there compared to 20 bored to death parsons you would hear yapping a mile away.
  9. The father of this dog is bred from blood from the working Jack Russell club here thats affiliated with the Jack Russell Terrier Club of Great Britain and the mother is bred from the KC show blood. Both parents are working dogs and I myself have two siblings from this dogs litter. Both parents have Ken,s and Ridley blood with the father having some Brockton blood all around 6 to 7 generations back. I think the KC ,( PARSON) show blood is just about finished here as there has been only 5 litters born in Australia in the past 3 years. There would be quite a few öf the early Australian "Kapaldo"
  10. There,s actually a bit of Ken,s blood back about 6 to 7 generations on both sides as well as that Ridley blood. kens stuff via the ridley line .. or kenterfox jean line .. From that litter born at Ken,s during that storm out of a bitch Jet by a dog Tornado and the ridley line through that imported dog thats in every registered parson over here _Galtres Bailiff Ridley who was by Ridley Renegade of Westbeck out of Heliwar Tess. There,s a bit of Brockton blood back there too.
  11. There,s actually a bit of Ken,s blood back about 6 to 7 generations on both sides as well as that Ridley blood.
  12. In Australia there are three types of mini fox terrier. There are the miniture fox terrier and the tenderfield terrier which are basically the same type of dog that are prick eared and light boned and both KC registered. And then there is the working type mini foxie which is the shorter thicker set dog with the stronger head and drop ears which is almost extinct today due to the better working cross bred white bodied dogs that came from the UK IN THE 60,S AND 70,S and the Jack Russells in the early ,s.
  13. call me thick ive only been into lurchers twenty odd year but whats a stag hound please mate ? ? Australia,s first breed of dog. Developed from the Scottish Deerhounds and Greyhounds that came to the colony in the late 1700,s for the local kangaroo,s,wallabies, wallaroos, emu and dingo. A Big strong long dog that ranges from a minimum of 28 inches to 40 inches plus that hunts by scent rather than sight similar to the way a pack of foxhounds hunt but a lot faster and extremely quick on the kill and to run on. Very rare in Australia today in pure form.
  14. Stunning pictures of saluki coursing types. We unfortunatley don,t have saluki types like that in Australia or greyhound types for that matter as coursing was banned in the 1970,s.
  15. Quite simply it,s different styles of hunting. Dogs in the UK hunt alot closer to their handler and have alot of short sharp runs and tend to hunt more by sight. Dogs in Australia hunt further away from their handler and have more longer runs and cover more ground and tend to hunt by scent.
  16. The temperature change is going to be a big shock to you as it,s a tad warm in Brisbane all year round. The cooler Winter starts from about april onwards and ends around september. Not many rabbits around brisbane or queensland, plenty of foxes but they tend to live in cover rather than to dig holes and heaps of deer,( red and chital)and pigs. Victoria is the fox hunting state and all the hunt clubs in Australia (6)are within 30 mile of melbourne. If your after a running dog or terrier go to the carisbrook show on the first sunday in october to see some of the better types. Happy trails.
  17. Plenty of them here in Australia. Fella here has been breeding a line of them for 30+ years with some very heavy culling. Good dogs for hunting cover, swamps and blackberries where they only have short runs but where they have to run over 500 yards they can be found to be a bit wanting.
  18. Has anyone had anything to do with offspring by him and what are their temperaments like and how do they break in?
  19. Not bad but better off putting a Greyhound dog over a Deerhound bitch.
  20. Does anyone have a picture of Goulds Tornado or Jet or have any information on their breeding.
  21. Not a hedghog but a popular hand puppet host of a BBC television childrens program.
  22. Brockton Toad of Bohunt came to Australia via New Zealand along with his daughter Bohunt Siren imported by Rodney Allan of " SWAMPFOX kennels". His father was Brockton Bryn and his dam was Topsy. Toad was bred extensively within the JRTC of A and was then passed through several sets of hands untill he was 6 years old and then he ended up in South Australia.G Tolly,s , Bohunt kennels is a NZ kennel that only breeds borders now and Brockton is a UK kennel maybe owned by Ted Harris. Eddie Chapman has only ever personally sent two male dogs to Australia and one of these dogs reside in Queensland.
  23. your point is not relevant in the brittish isles. lurchers are sight hounds and built for work in the open. foxes here live underground and in deep cover that is why the brittish isles has so many hounds and terriers. dont make observations about hunting foxes in a country that is totally different to your own. i woudl nto try and tell an aussie or and american abiut how to hunt in there country in fact i dont even know hunting in england which differs from ireland where i am from. Maybe Adam your point would be better put forward under a new thread called 50% foxing dogs for people who as
  24. A proper foxing dog would have to be able to find its own foxes for a start and not have to be slipped or shown its quarry and run freely on its own.
