It’s cheaper still here mate, €50 for a pig and then I just get it roughly cut to what I want by the lads with the band saw. Always tag and slap mark mate, you have to be chapter and verse with live stock over here. The local butcher is cheaper for my cattle, I think the last two he charged me €200 for the pair and that butchered into cuts, steaks, burgers, sausage and mince etc but he has a license to slaughter on his premises.

Not daft at all mate, I’m just messing along and f***ing about myself! Lol No mate, I don’t kill anything myself. You have to have it done by a proper place mate and to be honest I’m not so sure I could be f****d about with dealing with all the innards of a fully grown cow or pig even if I was allowed. But, yes all for our own freezer, I do not sell any of it, give a bit away and that’s it.
  4. My nose started bleeding when I got past Watford !
  5. That’s a bit of journey for training mate ! Blimey! I went to Oxford once to learn how to test welds.....similar like ! ? ? ?

In the pigs I bred a litter of Tamworth x Gloucester old spot, they came out blinding so I kept a brother and a sister and I’ll breed them to each other to try and nail the type because they are exactly how I wanted. They are b*****ds mind you because I think they are such sociable animals they always get out the field and come down to the house with the dogs ! Lol They just seem to like being around you mate, strangest thing.

I just tend to buy the dairy bull calf’s mate, €50 each and then stick them on grass for 8 months. Thats cheap eating that is edited to add: I had Angus the first year, much more expensive to buy and no noticeable difference in the veal. They probably yielded a bit more meat but they cost a bit more to keep as well so it’s swings and round a bouts

One of the strange anomalies in a country like this devoted to agriculture is that almost nobody eats their own product !......to me, it’s crazy. They would rather sell the cow and buy beef at the supermarket !! I just think that’s mental !

Muntjac are a bit of a b*****d because they always seem to be pregnant and it just feels wrong Somehow. I always hated it if you got a beast that was carrying a lot of tics, creeps the granny out of me.

I think, like most things there are ways you go about it......Hollering and hooting and being a prick is one thing but I don’t see a problem with a polite “here, excuse me but this isn’t really on” ......that’s something else entirely in my book. On the very few occasions in my life I have felt the need to do it I have always been curteous and polite and always said to them “It’s better someone mention it than customers just don’t come back” You don’t have to be rude to have sensible conversations in any walk of life, you know that mate.

If I have to be away from home I alway try and make sure I’m in a really good hotel, one time on my own in Paris this particular hotel has a very, very good restaurant but it was all black tie only and evening suits......none of which I even own never mind cart about with to meet some Dutch Herbert in the middle of Europe ! Lol Anyway, I have a word and ask if I can get a table and they say yes so there I am, all on my jack jones sat at the table right in the middle of the dining room. I have to say, it was fantastic grub.....frogs legs and all sorts but real nice.....now I’m not re

I also love liver, kidney and heart but oddly enough I like them fried or roasted quiet tough with plenty of black pepper. I like pigeon done the same way.

One place that got suggested to me last year that I wouldn’t go is that roof garden on the walky talkie building.......I’m not paying any f****r £13 for a boiled egg, I wouldn’t care if I was a billionaire. Id get the piss taken right out of me by my pals if I pulled a stunt like that. Poland was a weird one, they eat all this mixed fat and wheat shit! However, I had braised veal cheeks and mashed potatoes while I was there and that was handsome.

I suppose the test of a good gaff is that, when the bill comes, you don’t give a monkeys what it comes to.....you ain’t even thinking about it.

Horrible experiences like that mate, it just sort of leaves you deflated and feeling a bit of a mug......however, I would always make a point of complaining.....from a Michelin star to a sausage Sandwhich off a stall, there’s absolutely f**k all reason to be two bob about things and they shouldn’t be allowed to get away with it. It just displays a bit of a f**k you attitude which, in any walk of life, if you are providing a product and a service and a man is paying you an agreed price you just shouldn’t have......it’s just basic manners that you attempt to do your very best for anyone and

Food is and should be a social experience mate, you will remember years back that if someone came to your house you would feed them.....it was just the done thing. My poor old mum used to be up at all hours cooking for my old mans pals at all weird and wonderful times of the day and night and you would all sit round and talk and eat and generally do like a generational bonding type thing. Its where a young lad kept the company of men and you learned men stuff. But, I understand the too much of a good thing way of looking at eating out.....it’s like anything, when it’s commonplac

Never been mate, the only times I was in Camden for leisure purposes I was completely off my f***ing tree ! Lol I think if we are talking about London then Manzes has to get a mention, traditional grub like that can get forgotten and when it’s done as well as they do it it’s up there with anyone imho When I was a kid there used to be a really good butchers/delicatessen in Broadstairs and me and my old man used to go to another on Roman Road every Saturday morning. Id like to think they are still there but sadly they probably ain’t ........good delis seem to be dying out.
