  11. hi mate i also have patt x lakeland border and also go hunting rats on my own with him.if i may i,ll give a few things that have mad it easier. 1. dont be greedy. (with one dog your only ever going to get maybe 2 out of 5 rats that bolt) 2. get the dog to stay by you. (in time it will get to learn the best position for a kill) 3.trap them. (before you gas or lift sheets or straw try to net or place bords around the imediate area. 4.patients. (dont give i,ve had some great mornings on a farm with only one terrier!!!!)

  13. was sat in a hide the other day when this little tyke started barking at me and the terrier, wrong thing to do to a man who likes to eat them and a dog that loves to catch(or should i say kill??) anything!!
  14. he,s 14 months old and i,ve been working him as such since he was about 6 months. im a single man i live on my own its just me and the terrier all day everyday, when i say "dead" he leaves until i say otherwise, my little dog just loves to please me so he was,nt that hard to train, but belive me if he thinks my back is turned he,ll do anything, anytime, and he does`nt really listen to anyone but me. besides we are usually ratting or rabbiting so when one,s dead we move to the next so he,s used to killing and leaving once its stopped moving!
  15. the terrier is patterdale x lakeland border his bloods been hunting(when it was legal) for 25 years there abouts i had to wait a couple of years to get the pup out of the dame and sire i wanted. Millet the fox was about 20 yards away when i shot it it was going to die, i hit it with a 54 gram AAA cartridge.

  17. i was out walking yesterday trying to keep the rooks off a couple of seeded fields. i,d shot a couple of rooks and a pigeon then sat down for a drink, suddenly my terrier puffed himself up and went nice and stiff,i could,nt see what he,d spotted, then a fox ran straight across the field infront of us.My terrier has never met a fox before, he,s been ratting and stuff but as he,s only 13 months i,ve held him back till he,s nice and grown.,Well i shot the fox(as it was heading for our phesant pens) and the terrier screamed up the field and nailed it like it had really p*ssed him off,if i had,nt k
