Great to see that derbylad,I like to see them like that! Both Chester and Lilly were both excellent retrievers so there was always a good chance Xena would follow suit? She's a really nice type,I think you'll be having some great fun over the coming years together. Sirius I know there will be dogs down that way from these types but myself personally I couldn't comment on wether they've cut any mustard down there to tell you the truth? ATB Andy

I'm glad your happy with Xena mate..what stamp of bitch has she made now that she has matured? I'd assume being out of those two she won't be short of pace? I think with how she's bred she would of been a canny dog a few year back before the ban came into effect? She would be perfect for those long ears lol..here's owld Chester here..brilliant dog he was. ATB Andy.

A dog called Bulpa was the best i've had imo..but having thought plenty about it if i had him today i'm not so sure if i would be saying the same thing? I had the dog in the mid 's and still running hard 10 year later but i was out a hell of a lot back then and i mean a lot! I ran the dog wherever there was an abundance of game and i do mean ANYWHERE lol,nowadays though things are so different,my age for one thing i was young,keen,eager and darn right bloody daft back then..not anymore though ..it's always difficult to compare dogs from different generations imo,there was lots of gear to run

This is one of the latest bred down from the long line...it's one of Don's offspring,doing really well this past season,fingers crossed they continue to please their owners... and well i know Tomo doesn't really call his bitch Venus one or the other really? (Minshaw or Coursing Bred) but nevertheless has Minshaw blood in her and she is a really good bitch,i seen her catch 53 bunnies (i had to carry the feckers) and she honestly didn't have a blow in her,i think she would of easily amassed 70/80..she won't be 3 until the 1st of July so all being well we just might see some improveme

This bitch was doing really really well and i am of the opinion that she might very well of been the best lurcher to come out of our kennels...i NEVER seen her knackered no matter how much gear she ran,she was a wee machine,didn't mind a set of pearly whites,she just thrived on work,she was my lads bitch Ginny which Joe Ox kindly gave us at 9 month old after a bitch we had got ran over and killed running a daft bloody hare..she was going to make a BIG name for herself i'm convinced of that but things went pete tong and that was the end of that...sick as parrots we were but hey ho on we go...AT

And as of today these are two of our mutts which are descendants of some of the dogs i've mentioned in earlier posts..both have Minshaw's Blue as their great grandfather via their sire Jack..Swift & Don

I 1st met Vic when i was just in my early teens,i had a rough haired lurcher at the time which looking back in hindsight was about as much use as a glass eye :laugh: ,i bought it for £20 from a lad in the Bluebell Inn at Embleton near Cockermouth,she was in adulthood and lord only knows how old it was? I used to tag along with the older lads who could drive and go to Vic's and listen in to the stories that to me at that given time just sounded like fairy tales...i just done my own thing in the main Giro,seen old Blue running plenty though and done a good bit of game in with his Vic's son Shau

Yeah i knew the dog well mate..it was litter brother to that coloured bitch i had called Jess..it was owned originally by a lad in Carlisle called Kev then it came back to West Cumbria when he moved up Scotland..it got killed running a big Red down in the Lakes..i seen it take some canny bags of gear when my mate had it but when the guy from Carlisle had it we took it North and it bagged a few but he said he didn't wan't to tire the dog out and put it in the motor lol..it never got tested until it "came home" lol..this is Smash below after our trip with Kev..ATB Andy. Some down in the South Chid21 of that i can guarantee running well with plenty of Minshaw blood running through them mate...stamina was/is their strong suit,looks and one or two other traits ain't lol.ATB Andy.

Here Tomo..check these out lol..Lou and Rambo..same sire and exactly the same way bred dam's in Nipper (Blue's sire x Grey) just different Greyhounds and nothing else..so there goes that theory out the window don't you say haha...ATB Andy.

Oh and here's one before i go lol of a pretty well known dog called Nigger,he was bred out of Blue's brother alongside here is the sire of the coloured bitch Jess..he was a 3/4 Grey x 1/4 Collie..a super working dog was he and he would and did tackle ANYTHING,wasn't blessed with the stamina of some but what he did he did pretty much with perfection as for Nigger well he was top drawer and was sold at 6 year old as his owner moved onto other things in working dogs..the lad who bought him is a football scout for Everton FC..ATB Andy.

I eventually had the Jess bitch mated with Bulpa and from this came the dog below called Patch and he was a real dog but for whatever reason i never bred from him? Wish i had done now but it's all water under the bridge now .. he looked not to unlike the Don dog we have at the moment imo and he had an engine and a half..ATB Andy.
