How far do you think you walk on a days hunting up on the hills? Have you ever measured on a smart watch or anything? Looks stunning.

There goes my buddy walking out in an attempt to walk 'around' & behind some critters on the off chance of getting the dog some exercise.. sometimes you wonder if all the effort is worth it.

Hey up buddy, yeah I wear a Garmin Fenix watch so get a fairly accurate description of a days trekking up on the hills, distance, calories burnt, ascent etc & obviously the dog's wear tracking collars so I get info on their shenanigans too. A very 'easy' day will see me doing about 8 miles,an average day between 13-15 miles & an extremely tough day in excess of 20 miles, those latter day's are beyond me these days unless at a snails pace haha..what I have found is that regardless of how far you walk & how successful or unsuccessful a day out is there is no easy day or at least not for an old cnut like myself.

I might've missed the info on her breeding, FUJI, but is she bred down from your own dogs?

    Very nice pup, anyway.

No she isn't bred out of my lot Shaaark, she's far too good looking to be out of my ugly bunch..she's out of a couple of hard working runners, exactly what's in her makeup regarding specific breeds I ain't a clue? She's just a lurcher to me matey.

She's looking well , what size did she make

She's about 25 inch to the shoulder matey, that's gonna be about her now as far as height goes,as far as weight wise I could see her getting up towards the very high 20's in kilograms if not the low 30's when fully matured. She was weighed at the vets at 6 month's old & was over 22kg then..at the end of the day she will be what she will be buddy. She's well bred, she will get her chance & the rest is up to her at the end of the day. Were I a betting man I'd say she will be better than average.

  5. The young hound was 8 months old a fortnight ago now, she's coming along ok,as with most pups she has her moments where she can test your patience but it's certainly nothing I've not encountered before. Livestock training has been absolutely excellent, jumping great, retrieving great. She can gallop & I'd say she'll be nice to watch behind some gear come next season.

  6. Hope everyone has had a decent season running their dogs 👍🏻 ..another one comes to an end & that's about it for my old mongrel Boots too,he's let me know the past 4 or 5 trip's out he's had enough of it all now. He's so crippled he can barely get over a 2 foot high wall nowadays & his vision is almost non existent too. He only has one eye to begin with & although his long distance vision isn't too bad in his 'good' eye he has no close up vision in it,absolutely nothing so even the simplest of tasks are a struggle for him. He's basically blind getting around here in the house & it's a similar case when confronting obstacles when out & about,he's confident enough when on the lead though as is often the case with elderly & or blind dogs. It's a shame they get old but alas those that do we should be thankful that they have made old bones. Here he is on what will more than likely be his final ever trip hunting up on the mountains of Scotland a number of weeks ago now. He got on the scoreboard for one final time & to say I was proud of him would be an understatement. He will be 12 years old come October 1st later this year,it's been a fantastic adventure having him accompany me all these year's. I could never thank him enough as he achieved things no other dog I've ever owned could & he took me to places that I could only ever have dreamt of. Time to rest up now old fella, your duty & service to the family is over, you deserve to go easy from here on.. thanks Boots lad.

Looks like the Arctic tundra there mate fairplay to you atleast you got out

Some of the land is very much like that Penda, amazing to see the wildlife still going about their daily lives up there in such conditions..these seven were a long old way off,the second pic is a crop from the first but even so far away they weren't exactly hard to spot.

  8. Just back home from what will probably be our last hunting trip of the season, travelled well over 500 miles by motor & put in some very hard miles on foot in what was very testing weather to say the least. On awakening the first morning I opened the campervan door to a winter wonderland,it was extremely windy & the snow was  very heavy indeed. The second morning we headed out it was mostly rain mixed with a little sleet but as we trudged up the mountains that turned once again to heavy & persistent snow. Both mornings were extremely cold with the temperature just below freezing but the strong winds made the real feel temperature below minus double digits. Visibility was poor both mornings & occasionally in a white out it was nigh on impossible to see 10-20 yards in front of you. Still we cracked on & had ourselves a go,I had old Boots with me,Rose & my Cocker Spaniel Suzie too & my Mrs pup who was 7 month's old just yesterday, everyday still being a school day for the pup & I guess she could fare far worse than tag along with Boots at her age,he knows the craic & rarely if ever puts a foot wrong in life..we did manage to see a bit of wildlife, mainly way too far off in the distance & or looking down on us from granite, icy cliffs in the corries above us high on the mountain tops. It's always good to be out in mother nature's back garden regardless of getting on the scoreboard,we did strike lucky one morning when the tracking collars showed the dog's were together & steady some 930 yard's away,it took me a good while to get to them but the dog's had the job sorted when I arrived so all was fine & dandy & the next morning we were unlucky, that's just how it goes especially out on the mountains & probably even more so when conditions aren't exactly favourable. Another adventure, more memories made, another season has came to it's end.. Time to rest up,enjoy the spring/summer break, let the dog's recharge their batteries & when winter comes around again see what happens then..always be appreciative of your working dog's,we owe them so much,I certainly do.

  9. From what you can see & on breeding that Rocky is certainly the one I'd be interested in myself,be the one I'd take a punt on anyways, that Pincho looks like it would love to be in and amongst the hard stuff, looks a strapping dog he does.

Didn’t the bitch on the right have a dog called Thor in her or you was putting her to him If i remember correctly

The bitch was bred to Thor, she only produced one pup,we have her here, she is absolutely granite,100% single handed who will die before she quits, very hard animal yet very biddable & not a bother with other dog's & bombproof around livestock. This is her as a very young bitch, she is 3 this upcoming summer.
