  1. Best advice when arrested or even just questioned by the Law is to shut your trap!!!!!......Make them prove their case, don't help them by blabbering cause they will use it all against you in court.
  2. Mosby, with all your sage words of advice , you need to write a book , so that all terrierman can learn from your vast experience.
  3. The quality of various terriers thruought the US is a different subject all together.....There is any number of different people that work and breed top class dogs, but, their dogs are not peddled or handed out to just anyone.....Just like in the UK , the big talking internet sites selling their world beaters to one and all are not the same terriers used by the serious terrierman, for the most part...If you want a worker , talk to the men that work them, not the show people or just anyone that has pups for sale.....Expectations dont make workers, solid worker to worker breedings do...If you ca
  4. Mosby ,while you may well find hunters in all of the catagories you mentioned as far as desired dog traits and hunting styles, by and large most want a dog to go to ground, locate and work their quarry til dug to....Of course many work terriers in barns, old buildings, hay piles, etc, BECAUSE, thats where the game is located, but, those same dogs just as likely will be working to earth on another day.....You painted with far too broad a brush.....Different quarry , different tactics, and different sized dogs oftentimes, but still , a terrier to earth is the predominant U.S. standard......There
  5. Understand that this a Delaney chap is out of the terriers and onto his next great adventure, maybe resurrecting the once thought extinct Blue Paul.
  6. Come on people....Docking puppies is NOTHING!.....I just did puppies at 2 days old...Snip, done!...No antiseptic, no pain killer...Bitch licks them and within minutes no bleeding....Been doing it this way for 30 years, never a problem.....Did a 2 year old after he kept biting his tail causing it to bleed....Put a rubber band on the end of the remaining tail and took it off in 2 days, no problem.....Any working dog that isnt a straight bayer gets hurt worse than a tail snippin.
  7. Had a bold Gould pup of 9 months that did the same thing....He would jump any dog that looked at him wrong.....Took him out on and a hunt and got him a bit smashed up on several coon til he was tuckered out........Let him heal up good and took him out again and from them on he hated coon and would not fuss with other dogs unless forced......Did not hurt his development as he was a top worker for many years......You need to redirect his aggression......Have at it.
  8. Excellent post Barrie.....We have to be ever vigilant when posting on any forum , and to assume antis are about using any pics or text to further their anti-hunting goal.....A sad state of affairs but a reality........Many thanks for all your efforts......John R.
  9. busterdog....Sorry to hear about the loss of your dogs.....Always tears at you when you lose one.
  10. jj patterdales has links on there site You will find very few Lakey types in the states.....I know of only a few that are from a line of legitimate workers......Black coated, white coated and Jagds are the majority of workers here.
