With lurcher at side pulled to heel,
a slip of the collar a run for life,
up the feild through the fence,
the lurcher was dazed from my defence,
a shout from hunter "up you go"
i ran the gully with faith in mind,
running for home i had no joy,
with lurcher behind ready to strike,
his strides were large and far to wide,
he made a dash and caught my hind,
lifted up and brought to hand,
just then i lost the fight.
