  1. Yes Paulus, please do - better chance of winning then in all seriousness the photo probably makes it look better than it is. Its strange also that you can start working on it and then all of a sudden it looks crap, 5 minutes more work and it looks good. it kind of wavers between the two. I guess the trick is to stop when it looks good.
  2. I got started on mine this morning, here it is marked up and here it is after working on it on and off for 6 hours. now the 6 hours was interspersed with me removing the tiles from our utility room and replacing the work-surface, so I reckon this is 2 hours of work to get it like this. Lots of scratches still on the blade from the early material removal so I guess it's just a case of more elbow grease and sandpaper until I get the finish I like. Main problem with the sanding is that it has removed the sharp edges I had on the blade - not the finish I had intended but I actually
  3. If you are having issues finding antler you could try buffalo horn. Seems to be quite a bit of it on ebay. My blade arrived today so it'll be out with the files and sandpaper later. I have a few ideas for the handle but cant quite make my mind up
  4. I'm intending to cut my handle material by hand with a coping saw. I'll then sand the side I will be placing against the blank on a sanding block so it is as flat as possible. Hopefully that'll do the trick.
  5. I'll get started with the questions then. Do people generally polish the blade after the final hardening or is it worth doing it before? Cheers, Rob.
  6. I'd like to have a go at this please? Very much an amateur at knives, having put a kit together and making up a couple of blanks bought on here. Have what's needed to hand shape it though. Let me know if it's ok to be on the list and PM me some details. Cheers, Rob.
