    Out just after sun up this morning. Nice and bright lots of flying about all the swans off out onto the rape fields. Counted 28 on one field having a feast. Farmer keeps letting off rockets but they still keep munching. New to all this and last time just took clear pic of branches haha. Remembered this time to take off the auto focus and managed to get dunnock a bit more in focus with manual.

    yes brilliant shot and interesting to see original. Cropped well. Only seen rare glimpses of red kites here in past (North Beds) but this year have seen a pair three times this week. Hope they are staying local to increase numbers. Love to get some pics of them.

    nice pic saw some this morning as well thought I had some decent shots but every one was focused on small branches in front of bird. Job to get past twigs and get correct focus. Spose I should have gone to manual focus and done it that way.

    thanks all,never seen one of these before-all on its own looking for a mate. looked a bit shell shocked. RSPB site says they are common in East Anglia.

    Fors Sale-£275 North Beds. Pick up only. 22 weihauch 97K , with Simmonds 3-9X40 scope. Very good condition. 1 tin of pellets put through gun. Also a Deben Tracer atom night light.(Used once) 1 tin of 500 superdome and 1 tin of 500 Field Target Trophy pellets.     cant you just use a card reader Kay from amazon. I have the kingston card reader reads 19 diff cards and I dont use any software just drag and drop into my own folders. Costs about seven squid I think.

    The 300mm f4 is a good lens, the 2.8 is superb, but at a superb price There's always the 400mm too... On the whole prime lenses do the job better than zooms, but they don't have the flexibility. The canon converters are good, I haven't noticed any loss of image quality using the 1.4, but not sure I'd recommend the 2x unless you have a fast lens to start with. They can slow the focusing down a tiny bit, but it's hardly noticeable. The 100-400L IS is a decent lens - if you get a good one... It seems to have been around for a while though and may be due for a revamp. thanks mutt so

    I have a canon 55-200 but want something with more reach. I will have to save up but have been looking at a lot of lenses, reviews etc. I am now thinking that perhaps I ought to go for a prime lens, the canon is 300 and a 1.4 converter, what do all you people that know about these things think of that or would I be better off just going for a decent zoom?? Long way off yet but need to dream haha.

    a couple of pics from this morning: pity about the branch at the top didn't notice that when it was taken suppose there is a way to remove if I ever get to grips with photoshop. Synchronized flying geese should have been in focus disappointing. New to this and need to look up which is best to lock onto moving subjects. any constructive criticism welcome:doh:

    go into effects & then soft focus .. move the x to the bit you want in focus & move the 2 sliders untill you get the desired effect oh great thanks, very much K

    Must get a longer lens than I have. Make a note to myself-must get wife to work a bit more overtime.
