  1. Hello fella..... He's big for a whippet cross cos' he's from a hardblood whippet isn't he? One of my favourite's is Ozzy
  2. I'd have another Wheaten cross like a f*****g shot.....bred from the right stuff of course. No point in breeding from a dog just because it's a bull or a wheaten. Names or labels mean f*****g nothing. Ability is paramount
  3. Diggory...you can really see the Wheeler blood coming through in yours in my opinion. How do you find the nose in those dogs?
  4. Looks a bit Parky....seen some Parks/wheeler that looked similar

  8. Have they ever been really worked over here in a digging sense? Those of you who have read the old "Field" magazines from the turn of the twentieth century might remember there being a long public argument about the merits of the Sealyham over the Fox Terrier and whihc was the better badger dog, but back then they weren't talking about the "Fox Terrier" as the breed we know it as today, they were talking about fox terriers i.e. white bodied terriers which later became known as the homogenous group we now refer to as the Jack Russell. Waz is the man to speak to as I believe some of his

    Trojan

Last night I decided to have a look through some LPs just to see which ones are making the trip to Australia with me and I came across some old Trojan sounds. I thought I'd give them a bit of a spin and I'm so glad I did! As soon as the first bars of Young Gifted and Black came on I was in heaven! I sat and played though the Tighten Ups and got all my old 45s out too! As I sat on the floor I was taken back to when I was 16 again and by the time I'd finished the first bottle of wine I got to wondering where my tonic suit and brogues were Anybody here a fan of Trojan? The top sounds of

Interesting bit from one of my old books about Bullmastiffs.... I propose to define my ideal of a Bull-Mastiff and his claim as a utility dog, “police, watch, personal guard and companion, or night dog.†My object is to guide the novice against pitfalls in their beginning, which so often dishearten recruits to a new breed. After thirty years experience in breeding and training, I see no reason to depart widely from the type set by those grand old dogs of the past “Thornywood Terror, Osmaston Viper and Shireland Vindictive.†The Bull-Mastiff should be fawn or brindle in colour (t
  15. Cheers Andy...I wouldn't know a Minshaw bred dog from a hole in the ground mate. Never seen one run to my knowledge. Just wanted to know if any would be running the competition out of plain curiosity, no hidden agenda or anything. A pal of mine has one and he is happy with it and that's good enough for me.
  16. You brought it up mate....I'm just asking if there are any going to be running!?!?!
  17. So are any Minshaw bred dogs going to be running in the competition?
  18. But how many lads pre ban were running pure deerhounds on deer? There's some lads on here that used to take good numbers and I don't think any of them had deerhounds. In fact, most of them had a dash of saluki in their crosses if I remember rightly. I love deerhound crosses (Baldie's lad is a belter) but there is no mileage in saying this dog in its pure form is better than saluki crosses for fallow etc. I think there was a lot more lads pre ban running the deer with saluki composites than deerhounds, so the comparison is flawed. They are very different dogs and the numbers on the grou
  19. The Airedale is a hound cross from way back when so there's no reason it shouldn't have a decent nose. There's plenty of septics use them for treeing bears and cats so they must be able to trail hunt.
  20. I keep two bull terriers and a lurcher in the house and together they've never had a problem. When I brought the black bull terrier home to house with the brindle male, there was ructions on, and they were a nightmare, as only bull terriers can be. Once they'd sorted out the pecking order though, there was never any bother again. When I brought the lurcher puppy home, there wasn't the slightest bit of trouble and never has been. The only bother I had was with the wheaten cross but that was through high spirits in the field rather than anything at home. The wheaten cross was kenneled though
