  1. I've told you....there's something wrong with the sights on all of your rifles
  2. The sheds were shin deep in bird muck and mud and we didn’t really fancy going in there to be honest with you. Shunning the sheds, we made the short walk to a taller building that housed a silo for the grain. The entire front of this building was one large door that was jammed open and judging by the build up of dirt around the bottom, hadn’t been moved for some time. I think the previous occupants of this farm had left in a hurry as evidenced by the office furniture and documents lying strewn across the place. I don’t know what came over us at this point, but finding a hut with document
  3. It's not true I'm afraid...I wish it was
  4. Does this ring any bells with anyone? Made me laugh reading it I can still remember my first permission, which I am sure was given to me more in order to shut me up than for any serious dent I would put in the rabbit population. Having got friendly with a lad at school who came from a fairly wealthy family, it was with total joy that I noticed he had an old Webley .177 air rifle propped up in the corner of his bedroom. Now as my mate’s family had a few quid, they also had a bit of land surrounding their house, so we’d get out with this Webley and shoot empty Kestrel cans (don’t
  5. We pressed one into service when we were nippers Mind you we'd use any dog that came to hand...not much chop but then again, nor were we WILF has a couple of youngsters on at the moment

    Army life??

Those RA boys were crazy…the two subs looking after us were communists..I swear! They were unfit lads too and beasted me and my oppo for kicking their arses in the runs. We had a massive Aussie sergeant with us who was the fattest thing you've ever seen in uniform! He struggled to get in the back of the trucks at times. Wasn't you was it? Seriously though FJ, I know your eldest fancies the army when he's a bit older….would you encourage him to join the infantry? I know my family wanted me to join the RE like my old man and step-dad but I was adamant that I wanted to join the
  7. With the way the dolalr vs sterling is at the moment, would it not be worth a few of you clubbing together and getting on Cabela's website?

    Army life??

That reminds me of a time in Paradise in 2001/2002...a certain bloke decides to squat in the bushes when all hell breaks loose with the dogs on a boar As FJager has said you do get time off which, depending on where you are, was mostly spent in pubs or trying to reverse the damage you'd done in the pub.

    Army life??

Fjager has extensive experience in the Boy Scouts and has completed a large number of weekends away at camp. His knot tying is coming on leaps and bounds and we are about ready to take him off the velcro shoes some time soon. I spent some time with the RA and they had/have the only foxhound pack left in the army, at least they did 17 years ago.

    Running

They can't be real ones if you bought them on Chatham market Is it true there are Vicky Pollard look-a-likes who are searching for you in paternity tests? Now back to DMS.....you know any good lads in stores?

    Running

I used to run in DMS.... I hear you blokes can wear trainers these days? I don't know if you are running cross country, but the best shoes I've worn have been Adidas. I switched from them to try Nike and despite trying about 5 different pairs, I've never had a good one from them. I'm currently using ASIC like Stiffy but I find my New Balance better in the mud. The best mud shoes I ever had were my Walsh's with the square studded soles.

    Running

I run most days...I was running after work when I lived in town but now I live in the sticks I have to run before work. It's still pitch black when I start but it's getting light when I finish. The dogs love it.
  13. I used to feed pork all the time and never had any bother. I used to get heads, tails and trotters for nowt so I wasn't going to turn that down. Never had a problem with it either. A lot of people consider it wormy which is where the problem stems from. If you are on top of the worming then I don't see a drama.

  15. You want me to have a look at doing your garden next time I am over?
  16. That was my next question Nobby....about the hardbloods. So are there any top racing/coursing dogs that have the roach or is it more the show lines? If the roach doesn't help them, does it hinder them? I would have thought the roach on some Beddies I've seen came from the whippet rather than the other way around.
  17. I've just been packing up my books ready for a house move and I saw some old pics of whippets from the 1930/40's and they didn't have a roach back at all. Can anyone tell me when the roach came in and why? Does it aid in racing at all?
  18. Welcome from someone who stabs poor pigs
  19. One of my first eggs for my collection was from a nest in a low bush on a dirt track near the Chapel in Eldon and that was from a blackbird with white patches. 'course I told everyone was it was a Ring Ouzel
  20. I know looks aren't everything but I like that dog
  21. I was a pest controller so in the words of the Manics..everything must go. If I'd been known to let one go then I'd be gone. Simple as that. Not to say I never though as there's nothing like an education to test your terrier.
