  4. i recently got a body & 2 lense kit , i must admit i am not using the 18 - 55 lense a great deal . but the 70 - 300 i am using every day one way or another But your point about shooting away to your hearts content is right , i must have taken a few thousand pics in the last few months , just getting the feel of the camera & how it is differing from my point & shoot . I am sure the camera i have got is well capable of getting the action shots i so want to get , just need to keep at it & maybe get a good pic one day with it

    NEW BABY BOY

Well done & congratulations to you both , lovely to hear some good news
  6. I like the look of the brindle one , side view one
  7. I think Comanche made a valid point about how often you actually get out with your ferrets . I would say the average ferreter who does a paid job 5 days a week is only going to get the chance maybe once a week to get out as most folks have other family commitments as well So over a season thats maybe less than 20 outings , half days at that , bagging no more than say 4 rabbits , i am not seeing the huge bags being reported on here like a few yrs back totally different if you can work your ferrets any day of the week & your permissions over run with them , then of course your
  8. as rainmaker sayes if the urine is ascidic it helps stop problems like infections & crystals forming into to stones Best way to prevent it is to feed meat , a lot of dry foods are soya protein based which isnt the same as meat protein
  9. No its not just you , i noticed theres hundred of new members joining , the newset member changes every half hour or so
  10. Thumper is at another place, may have a go for him this weekend if the brush has died back a bit, I think I know where he is anyway Get a pic of him i cant wait to see it
  11. Maybe i am the only person to be offered feral cats as ferret food then , i do remember reading donkeys yrs ago that Plummer fed his ferret rhysus (sp) monkeys on occasion
  12. I dont see anything wrong in keeping a dog cat ferret or whatever as a companion animal , infact theres loads of people who consider there ferrets as both family pets & a working animal also I get a tad annoyed when people who assume working ferrets wont make good all round pets because they have been previously worked , see it all to often on pet ferret forums What i do object to is people killing there ferrets with kindness & treating them like baby substitutes , dogs also sadly get this treatment , grossly overweight ferrets & dogs being one bug bare of mine
  13. I dont know i assumed cats that assumption comes from the days when i got regular phone call from an old fella we became friends with , who used to reel of a list of things he had shot , feral cats being one of them & a turkey he ran over that was so big i couldnt pick it up
  14. i was looking to see if there was a place for a kindfisher to perch through the lense & didt think anymore about it untill i looked at the pic again a few days ago & noticed the shaddows in the water i like that one as well
  15. i wouldnt feed ferals either i know how nasty a bite from one of them can turn let alone what other diesases they carry, but as been said previously its hard to tell without a pm for sure Just a thought i know many ferals are trapped & brought in for neutering & then released again , i am told that normaly they cut a v shape nick in the cats ear when its under anasthetic so in the future people know its been neutered & its possible they may also be jabbed for the common cat diseases If that is the case then it may be worth looking into the possibility that its some chemi
  16. is that where Thumper is living or a different place
  17. Hello welcome to the forum, hope you enjoy your stay :welcomeani:
  18. cheers kay you should of seen her when she was asleep cuddled in the the rabbits i think shes getting the wrong end of the stick rabbits mean dinner not teddy bear atb gary Well think of it like this , she is respecting the quarrey , not chewing it up what is it a border ? aye she's a border cross mate got her from one of the lads off here from good working stock, which is already starting to show judging by her latest performances. Seems like she's gonna be a cracking little worker Darryl aye shes a border cross beagle atm shes still in puppy mode every thin
  19. To be honest i have no idea if you can breed out '' predatory instinct'' over 100's of generations , in reality there more likely to become endangered due to high cases of neutering , maybe not in my life time but who knows Whin's beefs not with there working ability , its with people who dont work there ferrets , hence the second topic of pet dry food dry food is convenient thats whay it was designed , for the record Whin , NO my ferrets dont get dry food , neither do my dogs any more , if not working the ferrets here in my care makes me a bad person then so be it
  20. What do you think of it Whin ?
  21. I cant see ferrets losing their killing instinct as its part of their genetic make up unlike dogs were different types have evolved over the last thousand years.IMHO i dont think we have anything to worry about by people who keep ferrets other than to hunt them.atb dell if Whin has found the secret to eternal life he must share it
  22. I cant ever see ferrets on display in a pets corner with the guinea pigs and rabbits can you atb dell There must be a reason for that though dell i am sure someone knows out there
  23. i must have had a real odd pet ferret at one time because he kiled the kids rabbit , he hadnt been worked so i dont really understand how he knew how to kill it
  24. A ferret is a ferret , there dietry & husbandry needs are the same
