  1. Question for the Aussie hunters, with all the poisonous snakes and spiders in OZ [that probably like to take shelter down in fox earths] do ye lose any terriers from poisonous bites ?
  2. thanks for the reply Desertdog, i dont know alan from enniscorthy but i would appreciate if you could p.m. me any more details you have for him.
  3. Thats it N.W.Mitch her kennel is badgerbeck do you know this woman, she knows her borders and works them hard. As to the oxcroft line i have a bitch decendant of oxcroft royal and oxcroft slippy on her fathers side and she has Clipstone and dandyhow blood on her mothers side, you described this bitches working style in your earlier post about the breed standard " to locate and flush the animal not fight with it" "a soft terrier to stand back and bark" this workin style may suit some people but not me, one day when i broke through as she was sounding at a fox in a stop end the fox pushed her bac
  4. Youre right there Desert dog borders only look right when handstripped. This year at the welsh gamefair i noticed a few really pale wheaten coloured borders,i got talking to the woman who bred one of the winning borders[100% worker] and she told me their owners are lightening their colour by clipping....sad really. She also said she had been breeding borders for 10 years and had never seen a genuine wheaten border as they must have blue coloured ears if genuine. Can anyone help with me with this womans name as she had to rush off before i got her details i am sure she called her kennel Badger
  5. Jeez Scent how do you stop a 10mm bar from bending or does galvanising give it strenght. Best one i found is 3 foot of 15mm spring steel, it wont bend.
  6. Good idea TT, im lucky so far never had any dogs taken but id go any way to see if i can help.I suppose Athlone or Tullamore would be central for everyone. I think we need to screen people going to meeting in case a b*****d thief or anti fakes entry. Hows about you must bring photos of a dig with your dogs and you must be okayed by two members on this site?
  7. Come on lads a bit of common sense now, what happened to TT is rotten to the core i can only imagine how he feels, Dev got shite for postin honest workin legal photos, i got shite for sayin stripe now if we cant post any photos at all of our dogs ye might as well shut the site down and give into the thieves and antis. TT doesnt say what part of Ireland hes from on his profile, i do im from wexford and unless the scum theives search every house in county wexford how are they gonna find my dogs. Instead when TT is ready, if his dogs dont show up, we should breed him replacements for free to get
  8. Can we have some clear photos of TTs dogs and any info on obvious marks, scars, missing teeth/toes/nails etc, that we can look out for. I remember one day i saw a jeep slow down and then drive off again outside my house. My dogs were out at the time so i went out and checked....my lurcher was missin, in a blind rage i jumped in the van and tore around the back roads i live on but no sign, if i had a caught that jeep i would have killed the guy drivin, no doubt. Guess what, when i got home the b*****d lurcher was sittin on me front step, he had went off for a little hunt in the cover next to my
  9. Just wondering are you still huntin with russells, you could do with a killing dog in that rocky ground up your way.
  10. Well done to chippy and all the lads at the Minerock harriers show today. It was well sign posted, well ran, good judges and a good turnout of dogs. Kids were delighted to be goin home with a couple of red rosettes i was happy with the bags of dog food and meeting a few genuine workin border owners, now hopefully we can breed worker to worker. Its what the summer shows are all about genuine terrier and lurcher men meeting for a bit of crack and makin note of stock you would like to breed with in future. Look forward to next years. Burrow man.
  11. Great idea foxfan after all this is a hunting site and we should be able to talk freely with friends in sport from any country. I just hope we can stop our idiot politicians from bringing in a ban like yours. Broke my heart last year when driving to the welsh gamefair to see the beautifull countryside, that ye have to sneak around like criminals to enjoy our sport.Passing through one small town i saw three near full grown foxes killed on the road, i thought theres the result of the ban on an animal with no natural predators, overpopulation.Your forefathers bred and developed the working terrie
  12. Have any of you lads ever set up an american earthdog trial burrow? Id say it would be great crack at a workin terrier show and with a small charge and prizes for the 3 fastest dogs to get to the rat might even make some money for the show organisers. It shouldnt be that hard to set up some land drainage pipes, a load of topsoil and a strong wire door to remove dog from burrow when he finds the rat. Can the antis/cruelty to animals people stop you if you use a pet rat as bait that is not stressed in any way and kept safe in a nice little cage? Any info welcome
  13. Shite dogs shite men, id love to walk in on them as they were leavin that mess. I hunt with a mate who back fills so well that sometimes i check earths that he has recently dug and you wouldnt even know they were dug. He also insists that you keep the tube open, first he packs the opened tube with gorse bush or any other bulky foliage before backfilling up level. Hes been doin this for years and regularly sees the packin in the fresh dig out. What do you lads think of this idea, i used to just use the dug out material but you always find youre a bit short of finishin level and have to bring soi
  14. Hows it goin Tynetyke i just checked out the airgunners forum and its great to see intelligent, helpful answers from the experienced gunners to help the inexperienced. Thats what a forum should be, i had to take a break from the terrier forum its demoralising to see genuine novices post a question and get ripped to shreds by the keyboard cowards. If this is their first experience of the working terrier circle most of them will be put off ever starting and we have less voices to fight our cause.......p.s. that border in the photo under your name is a beauty,is it yours,do you work it. A.T.B. Bu
  15. Looks well on your gun Stankonia, was there much hassle fitting it or did your gunshop fit it ? I hope to fit one to my Theoben M.F.R. but im a bit worried about fitting silencer to shrouded barrel. Can u tell me where to get these silencers ?
  16. It was a good show and a great day out, but did any of you see the state of the border dog that won the border class? Not even a drag of a brush through his coat! He was bad allright Crafty, the owner had a bitch as bad, ive been around borders for a long time and i never seen coats like them. Did ya think the judge was a bit colour blind in the pup under 12 mts class .....winners 3 white dogs ?
  17. ive just put a awt silencer on mine twice better than theobens one its a push fit over shroud looks well and works well 65 quid and no you wont loose any power ive heard they still work well at 80ft lb Thanks for the advice Wats, i was thinkin of gettin theobens silencer but now i will look for an AWT. I live in Wexford, Ireland, so are there any stockists on the internet, or might i locate one at the welsh gamefair ? I like Bisley Magnums which pellets do u like ? I tested my gun with the chrony and got 24ftlbs is that about right. Are there any companys fitting an on gun air guage to M
  18. Can anyone help with advice on the best silencer for an F.A.C Theoben M.F.R.. Also will it lose any power with silencer fitted?
  19. I fully agree with jt750 and liam delaney the most knowledgable people wont post topics or replies they wont waste their time. Fair play to Nick Stevens for coming on to face the cowards but they couldnt show him the same respect. If you can breed lookers that work you have cracked it, put a photo of a nice typey terrier on this site and see the praise it gets, but get it wrong you should also be told, eg the wheeler/nutall topic . Thanks NICOLA for the topic it needed to be said, can J.Darcy take part more and maybe the most experienced hunters will join in.
  20. Hello HOFFMEISTER i have a good hard border dog he is a good finder and stays with the fox locked on till dug to.He is IKC registered, are yours? He has great temperment, great with kids and not interested in fighting with other dogs .He is 8 years old and grizzle in colour. I would be very interested in mating him to a good hard working bitch to get a bitch pup to keep a good line going. I can fax or email you his pedigree, he has cork blood in him from J.J.Flanaghan do you know him ? The dog is a bit larger and stronger than the breed standard but that dosnt hold him back he always digs on th
  21. Please do, we wouldnt want to upset the antis now would we.I was right this forum is a load a shite.
  22. To Kevin M and Buster Buster, what is your problem, i thought this was a forum for terrier men not ball-less, p.c., scared, blouses. We all use fake names so f**k the antis. Show me any terrier man that hunts his dogs loose and claims he never accidentally met the stripe and i will show you a liar. I HAVE NO INTEREST IN HUNTING BADGERS and do avoid all known setts in the land i hunt. If ye knew anything about the animals in our countryside ye would know when the sow badger is about to have a new litter, last years adolecents are driven from the main sett and these dig out new temporary homes o
  23. True Saxon your info is correct i recently spoke to johnathan from B and F and he said the problem is the cost to manufacture, hope they go ahead though as it sounds the business, half the size and 100 hours on rechargable batteries.
