  1. Glenn-the plummer was in trouble from the moment the PTA closed book on mis marked , tris , reflex etc and colour + pattern became the main criteria for breeding. It was far too early for the limited gene pool to maintain healthy puppy production. This is the reason i declined to register my own dogs. (Which incidentally turned up on the register some time later mysteriously) . I must stress this is NOT a personal dig at anyone, but my opinion on the breed in general. the out cross was intended to be bred back to pure stock in the first place and is now producing some fine dogs. I cant comment
  2. sounds like more personal agendas ?
  3. Did'nt reply last night cos i went to bed (ran out of cider, lol) Always interested to hear about terrier history, not interested if it involves slagging people though. Not saying that you would do that pal. Foxfan after a lot of thought ive decided i cant risk offending my friends, afterall if they wanted publicity they could write a book[wish they would]when i speak to the man involved i will ask if he would be ok with a basic version of events being told. For now all i can say is,the original dogs Plummer brought up north were a mix of unknown breeding, definatly Russell t
  4. IMO. 1 Plummer terriers are ridiculed thanks to DBP.being openly disrespectful for the past 20 years ..to those owners of other breeds. 2 The % of failed earth working Plummers would be the same as any other breed, of working terrier, if we looked at the statistics considering the numerical numbers of plummers 1000 since 1994 not a lot !..compared to all the other breeds. 3 I have owned, bred, entered and trained earth working plummer terriers both pre ban and "now" .some of my "now stock " work in ireland, where it is easier to find and work quarry but is actualy a harder enviroment to
  5. Dont mention the "p" word for christs sake!!!
  6. A lot of "opinions" on the plummer terrier are formed without any knowledge of the breed or having seen one at work. How can someone have an honest unbiased opinion on these dogs without actually knowing the subject they are talking about? Because they dislike plummer? Because so & so said so? (who probably knows nothing about them either). One thing i can assure you of is that once most folk own and work one, they rarely keep any other type. some are better than others the same as in patts, bulls, russells or any other type of dog.
  7. i think you are spot on hepher- you "DUNNO" how i can say the plummer has a superior nose. because i never said it. if you read the post-not too hard-its not very long and i tried to keep the words simple. (Maybe i should have used CAPS?). i said i have never seen a better nose.and yes i have seen a few terriers doing all sorts of things! i dont however feel the need to brag about anything as i have a perfectly adequate set of balls and dont need a dog to prove my machismo to any one. how many plummers have you seen working by the way?

  9. personal preference . one mans meat and all that. one thing that does stand out-i have yet to see a terrier with a better nose. :search:
  10. you just started an argument - you wait and see!!!! :headshot::
  11. A lot of potentially good dogs have been ruined by premature entering. These dogs end up passed from pillar to post-"doing a bit" as they are usually described to the next buyer. real top class working dogs do not get advertised very often-they are usually snapped up by friends etc. very few people i know would part with a GOOD dog anyway. get a pup from good breeding and enter it yourself is the best way. if you cant train and enter a dog then get yourself some golf clubs .
  12. Cocks out lads-biggest one wins!!
  13. saw it. looks like it was made in the 60's!
  14. keep up the good work guys. theres nothing like a good constructive debate-and this is just that-nothing like a good constructive debate! F.F.Sake get a grip.
  15. what you are all talking about happens a lot in the terrier & lurcher world not just" plummerdom. " just check on any forum. :shok:
  16. never done a weeks work? digging at the taxpayers expense or very rich?
  17. well said foxfan, i too used to believe all those lies until i knew better. these legendary dogs are just that-legends.
  18. have done.......used to.......know a bloke who did.......heard about--same old same old. no one ever actually owns a dog that can be seen doing it now-witnessed and proved by reliable witnesses. because such dogs do not exist and never have, plain and simple.
  19. hit the nail spot on the head!! i think the irony will be wasted though.
  20. check colours-1st crosses will be black or blue.
