With an evening re-waxing my trusty barbour in front of me I got to thinking about shooting in bad weather. Are there any major do's and dont's ? What is the best way to dry out your rifle after a downpour and do any of you guys use a "rust inhibitor " (WD40 and the like) or is it just a rub down with an oily rag?. Never been shooting in the rain so would be interested in your views..... is there any quarry out and about in a storm ? Although my Barbour is a real trusted friend for fishing / beating and mooching I am begining to see that it is possibly not the best item of clothing for

Damn you..... and your trickery. I have just looked up Weihrauch in the current oxford dictionary..... " Weihrauch GmbH & Co German manufacturer of air weapons worldwide. Based in Mellrichstadt Germ.. Product range including spring loaded rifles and pistols along with the pcp rifle model HW100 currently classed by ALL experts as the most accurate and certainly the best rifle in production. " Told you its true .... :D :D

It seems the airgun world is split down the middle on this one...those who own the HW100 and those who want to ?.....there, I have lit the touch paper and now reteired to a safe distance. Discuss....  =@ =@ =@

One the best places to start looking would be "you tube".....there is plenty of instructional info available. Money invested at the begining on instruction is money well spent (I speak from experience). Instructors are advertised on the WWW and in the magazines, they can advise on tackle set up along with the basics of fly presentation. You will need a different set up for lake and resevoir to stream or brook. Also different for trout and salmon and salt water. I have just got into UK saltwater flyfishing and it's great. A Sea Bass on the fly is something to experience. As with pretty m

After watching the DVD lent to me by Buster (cheers again) I invested in a decoy magpie from ebay (£3.99). Now I only have a small garden so I have to nail these little suckers where they stand, over the past month i've probably had about four or five but they have now become very wary of my traps. I have been using a ripped open bin bag with some strategic placings of bacon and it's been O.K. so far. Yesterday I did the same and added my new plastic friend (no jokes please ). After ten minutes there was a line of 6 of the little sh**s on the garage roof waiting to investigate. As soon a

Had a trip out to the wilds of Herefordshire yesterday. 2 mile stretch of river that was just beautiful, over grown and very "under fished". Mayfly hatch at 10.30 am and the wildies were poppin, the river looked like it was boiling in some stretches. Added a picture so you can see the condition and beauty. This one was about 6-7 inches with colours like a piece of butter. A real great day out, even saw an otter while I was having my lunch.

Watch the tides... I had a 7lb bass on the salt water fly last week, about as far west as you can go. The mackeral are in and the waters are "just" starting to warm up. If you need any tips the guy that owns the tackle shop in St David's main square is very helpful. -
I have watched the local Magpie decimate both the robin and blue tit nests in my garden over the past week , although I don't like using the rifle at home (small garden, thin fences, neighbours etc...) this black and white thief had driven me too it. After a couple of days of peering around the curtains and trying to nail the little s**t I was begining to realise just how clever / wary these birds are. After a few internet searches (I even considered building my own Larsson trap ! ) I decided to lay a trap.... a ripped open bin bag on the lawn with a "sprinkling" of eggs from the fridg

Just interested to know how many letters you guys have / are sending out before you get permission. I have some land in Pembrokeshire that I can shoot on when i'm there ( 4hours there in the car and 4 back so its holiday times only with the odd long weekend). I have sent out about 45-50 letters around the Midlands / Warwickshire area and received only ONE reply...it said no. I am aware that it is not easy, it takes time, etc. etc. etc.... but i would be interested to know your experiences / stories. It's costing me an effing fortune in S.A.E's !!!! :wallbash: :wallbash: Cheers, Da

I have a Webley Tempest that can destroy a can of Carling at about 12 yards. I've never thought of taking it hunting before, but the more I think about it ...I am wondering if it could replace my "catty" on a walk in the country... it fits nicely in the pocket and isn't that loud. (.22 calibre)... Has / does anyone have any success with this classic pistol ? Thanks in advance..

Slightly off topic I know....... Been using accu pell .22 in my HW57 for quite a few years and have found these very good. Recently purchased a new HW100 and was given a tin of .177 FX pellets, they seem ok so far but as you know its a totally different ball game going from spring to pcp. I have ordered one of the pellet sample packs to do some testing along with a tin of accu pell in .177. Different rifle I know but i'm real interested in seeing if there is such a difference. After years of using the HW57 spring at a max. of 35 yards (own choice) for hunting the HW100 has opened up
