  4. I use dry ferret which i get from my local cow mills suppliers and feed meat as well usually rabbit, pigeon or magpie. All my ferrets have good coats and healthy teeth. i used to feed dry cat food but the ferrets did nt look as good on it as they do dry ferret food

  6. They should be fine. I always keep my jills in pairs even when they have young and never get any problems with them. They are sociable animals anyway.
  7. Any Stoats about mate if not then Corvid will be the most obvious
  8. Vets is the best option mate if you try you could do more damage than good. It is a bit young to be running a dog as the bones and muscles have nt hardened and form properly yet. Best of luck with it mate.
  9. I had my first litter of kits born today. They are all looking ok so fingers crossed all will go well
  10. My ferrets enjoy getting in water and "swimming" to a fashion but i would`nt say they are great swimmers.

If i had free lofted her from the time i got she would have done more damage to her feathers than bowing her. Now she is happy with me and being around me she will be free lofted until she finishes her moult so it was for her own good that i have done some training with her at this point.
  12. The same dust free shavings and shredded paper for bedding.
  13. I have 3 jills here that i took from a bloke that phoned me and asked if i would take them as they hissed and bit when ever he tried to touch them. I went to his place to pick them up and they were in a guinea pig cage muck everywhere and they were as he said. I had taken a glove with me just in case so i put it on and put the ferrets in my box and took them home. put them into a large cage and left them for 2 days to have a good feed and settle down. on the 3rd day i opened up the cage and thye were quiet but hesitant so i put my hand near them, they did nt try to bite me and have not tried s

  16. Cracking looking bird mate and great pics i bet you are looking forward to this season. I cant wait for the season to start as i have recently picked up a female Harris so counting down the weeks know. Was the bird injured in fence as it looks well caught up. Again lovely bird
  17. Just echoing what has been said already but if the dog is broken the ferrets at an early age then there should nt be any problems. I work a JRT with my ferrets and work alot of hegdes and the terrier will let me know where the ferret is if the hedge is too dense by a high pitched bark and he will follow the ferret through the hedge. I have never had a problem with dogs and ferrets of my own. The ferret kits are introduced to the dog as soon as they start being handled.
  18. Im not a lurcher man but i have friends that are. How many lurchers can you run at once, in my experience lurchers are ran in couples which is allowed under the ban although they are not allowed to a catch and kill a fox but you can hunt rabbits. I have been a member of the CA for many years and they are the only group that has brought this ban to the public eye and are taking positive action to repeal to ban. As for the comments that they should of done more, what more could they do the ban was signed and sealed before it was ever made public. They focus on the big hunts because with out the

She is coming on a treat now. She is sitting on the glove and feeding off the glove. She jumped to the glove yesturday for the first time for her food so fingers crossed she will come right after what she went through before. I am no expert falconer but i have been keeping birds for 5 years and feel confident with what i do and people like the one i got this bird off really bug me that they take these birds on with out knowledge and keep them in the way this bird was kept.
  20. It weird i had one with 3 legs the other day. The only thing i can imagine is that if they had nt been fertilised they would have been double yolkers. Were your chicks from Honeybrook
  21. Handle them as much as you can, if you getting kits you will get nipped but dont let that put you off. A good quality diet and varied too. I have kept ferrets for 20 years and have had many hours of fun with them all year not just during the ferreting season. Deffinately get a ferret finder and practice useing it so you are comfortable useing when you are out in the field. Ive heard many people say I`m not going to bother with a locator because ferrets are cheap to replace but you owe the ferret to look after it a you would working dog or BOP. Good luck with them mate and enjoy working them.

He had her in an aviary that was 3 ft wide and about 9ft long. She could nt open her wings properly. I have her at my house now and she has settled down really well. had her on the glove to for the first time today. All went well we has a bit of bateing and chittering but she settled after about 2 hours. Fingers crossed she will come on and work with the ferrets like my last one did.
