  1. I’m talking about folk slagging you off not foxy you buffoon !
  2. All jokes aside , the lad had invested time and effort in his dogs to be able to run them off against another man’s charges . i take my hat off to anyone willing to do that . Fair play , thirty matches is thirty matches , the man’s taken a chance and won whether that be local , the fens day or night , he’s flashed his dog . To run him down is poor form imho
  3. If it’s not single handed by November on all quarry , shot gun in all seriousness, Scotty has done a proper rearing job and your doing well with it . I’m looking forward to seeing this sapling grow
  4. So did you f***ing hypocritical c**t and ran them down as opposed to Swedish birds !! https://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/424256-sweden-is-where-its-at-/
  5. Fair play to the kid, he’s got himself summat decent and there’s a lot to be said for bringing it in the house and rearing it in the family home . Good luck to him with it . you’d have liked him
  6. Best of luck to you young un hope you have a cracking time with it
  7. All long ago sadly . i was funny as i was all in between about 15 and 30 , all i thought about was football and dogs . And football came a long way back In second . I played Saturdays and when I packed in to play Sundays , it was getting in the way of the dogs so that got f****d off as well. I always had a thing where one day I’d be walking around with my boy on my shoulders watching dogs fly about in front . It seems that may happen but it would have to be something nostalgic to re light the fire for me
  8. As I said he would tear up to them as quickly as possible and settle , but if he could kill quick he would. he could also find and stalk them in big fields of rushes which was my favourite way , letting him find them himself and figuring it out.
  9. Most of the ones in your pups pedigree mate
  10. You could say that mate yes!! i knew victor and a lot of the lads who kept them. They weren’t for me , I was into both day and night running, but for night they were a sight to behold . I seen some of the very best dogs in the uk as a young man. It’s very very strange for me to read some things in here as I saw some extremely well known lurchers , both day and night mentioned regularly and twenty five years ago they were just dogs in the kennels of our little gang. at the time were always looking how to keep better and stronger dogs . It’s genuinely baffling .
  11. Yes mate . He was slightly under that , But bigger than 27. he was a lovely dog to have about as it sounds cocky but he was f***ing lightning quick. Like after thirty yards his turbo would kick in and he would shut them down like a track grey. I got a perverse satisfaction on holding him as long as possible on the rope as the hare would bobble into the distance with all my pals screaming to let him off. I stopped free hunting him and held him for slips that advantaged the hare rather than him . another funny thing is that he had an unusual name and I’ve heard his name mentioned
  12. Dog on left a young coursing bred type , 9 months old , grew into a very measured calm all round dog , definitely my best dog for chasing hares. Again lucky back to a quick jank travellers bred day dog. dog on the right is my favourite ever dog . I never got any nice pics of him , but he was truly a dog of a lifetime. Saluki bull grey back to a minshaw lamping dog . Rough and ready and could go at anything , day and night . He was an absolute oil painting and he was as game as they come . Was the epitome of a desperate killer , broke toes , teeth , feet and his shoulder . Still caught da
  13. A coursing man saying whippet racers use ped jags on their dogs do you actually talk with anyone who runs dogs ? jagging dogs is f***ing rife in matching
  14. That’s genuinely how 90 % of my friendship circle go about
  15. That can all be done in the early part of the season
  16. He was about 10 month old in This picture what advantage is he getting that can’t be got from a hard Septembers lamping?
  17. Exactly , f***ing well said ! With each and every post , bangers may has his true character revealed
  18. So if a dogs born in august 2023 it would be a year old in August 2024 and you two would be hunting it all over summer 2024? when the stubbles been cut and the dark nights start in winter 2024 , what advantages have you gained by hunting all summer with it ?
  19. Folk who purposefully run quarry in the summer with lurchers , particularly young rabbits and hares are not for me Genuinely can’t think of an advantage to it
  20. My favourite coursing cross is well bred coursing bitch to the biggest roughest nastiest mean as a ferret lamping dog you can find . I had a very good dog from a foxy / Charlie blood bitch to a collie bull grey lamp killer . Probably my best dog . a lot of people get caught up in names and pedigrees , when in reality that coursing blood can be too high maintenance and too inbred to properly click sometimes
  21. f***ing he’ll how long ago was that ?
  22. Foxy Charlie , that must be twenty years ago at least
