    I know it's a very daft question, but are you sure that the terriers went in the spot you are digging at? Has there been a definate confirmation of this?.... Yes, of course, there 'could' be a shaft, but it would be very unusual surely to build a railway on top of an open shaft? You need someone there with experience with bankings and/or terrier location......knock a series of bar holes in along the base of the banking as deep as you can, listen with coat over your head, preferably during the night/early morning.     in all honestly i would try a dog you could call out,......................alot will disagree with me,...............if they fallen down a shaft or something you could be adding to the problem ,................but at least you can pin point the problem .................i would say it was your last hope as you got nothing to go on................. when i use to dig years ago we use to get a mark off a dog and put in a soft dog just so we could see the depth we were going to be working on..............then we would call it out and put another dog in knowing it would work its quarry better.....

    You can blame the people who take it as they must have no self respect if thats how they want to live !!! I love to see these lazy Fuckers given road sweeping or toilet cleaning jobs as part and parcel of earning Benefits for long turn durations. Mandatory National Service for any one that leaves school with out having a Apprenticeship or University placement to go to wouldn't hurt ether, we could use them to better protect our national boarders and have it set up so that only those that volunteered would serve overseas. if you were in there position you would do the same........
