  1. The JSR scopes above are excellent also check out the bsa essential range for good value scopes.
  2. As long as you have enough knowledge to be able to strip and clean the gun properly then there is no problem with using it in the wet. There are a few things you can do to help protect the gun in poor conditions the first is wrap cling film around all the parts that don't need to move ( but don't apply it to any areas that get hot ). The second is go to a fishing tackle shop and buy a landing net cover these are great as they are small and light and can be carried in a pocket and slipped over the gun between shots. The third is get a neoprene gun sock with a bit of modification you can fit the
  3. Any gun carried in a public place must be in a secure case this includes when in a vehicle. Be aware the police have been told to stop 4x4's, cars covered in mud or any drivers wearing obvious hunting/cammo clothing and search for firearms. They are looking for any excuse to revoke F.A.C/SGC'S if you search other forums on the internet you will see there have been many people stopped recently and not all of them have got off so lucky.
  4. To me the pcp is a tool that i need to use but the springer is something i use because it gives me pleasure
  5. Whenever i have a new gun i get the pellpax sample pack and try all the pellets. I shoot five of each into a target to check the groupings and accuracy then i shoot them into an old telephone book to check for penetration. It's allways an interesting and fun test to do and at the end i know what suits the gun best.
  6. If you want the most accurate go for a floating barrel if you want a high shot count go for a larger cylinder or a buddy bottle and all guns are reliable and consistant if you look after them and clean them properly after every use. If i was going to buy one right now i'd go for a theoben rapid.
  7. I use a springer and a pcp both have there advantages the pcp is easier to load when working from a hide or when in thick undergrowth where too much movement will create noise and the pcp allows the use of a bipod to add some more yards to it's effective range. The springer has the advantage that it's power is allways consistant i can just pick it up and go i don't have to worry about filling it up which is ok if you have a high shot count. Mine is an s200 and a couple of years back i had a red letter day on the squirells and i actually ran out of air i could have shot another 50 if i'd had th
  8. If your near taunton there are loads of local shops that sell them but if you can't get to any of them try calling avalon guns in street they will usually do a personal delivery around this area.
  9. A bankstick would work with a soft rubber rod rest head on or a pole roller head but it could still move i'm sure most anglers have had bancksticks move and wobble whilst fishing. A pair of crossed sticks joined together is more stable in my experience and once you get used to them they can really improve your shooting both you and your son would benefit from using them.
  10. If your cutting it for your son to shoot i would suggest fitting the stock and getting your son to hold it in a standing off hand shooting position. work out where it needs to be cut to fit the stock to him. As mentioned above i would cut it at the butt then get a couple of allen bolts drill through the butt pad and the piece of wood you have cut off and put a couple of tapped holes into the butt then you can add and remove the butt section with a few turns of an allen key. This way you will have a gun you can both use comfortably. Also get yourself a pair of shooting sticks to help your lad
  11. BASC membership and insurance helps or any similar type of insurance.
  12. Did you order those from pellpax i order a lot of stuff from them and every order i've recieved has had a tin of smk's a tin of milbro's and a few targets thrown in.
  13. The s200 multi shot conversion automatically cycles when the bolt is pulled but the s400 conversion is manually cycled. I think they probably do it that way to encourage people to pay the extra for the s410.
  14. I believe it has something to do with the enviroment the rabbits live in. A couple of years back i had two shoots the first was a golf course the second was a quarry. On the golf course every shot was a clean instant kill on the quarry however 9 out of 10 shots had the rabbit get up and run. I was using the same gun and same pellets and shooting over the same distances. The only differences were the enviroments i guess the quarry rabbits were just tougher.
  15. I'm left handed and shoot an s200 and it is really annoying i have the mutishot conversion but it's wasted as i can't get a quick backup shot. Everytime i reload i end up with a juggling act which apart from the fact it slows me down also creates a lot of movement and gives away my position to the quarry.
  16. I've just watched them all and i think the show on deer stalking was excellent it really showed stalking in a positive light. I think the duck and grouse didn't really didn't really offer anything to us or to the anti's . The rabbit show was a bit of a let down though as blasting away at a running rabbit with a shotgun when you have no experience is not an effective way of hunting them and there are more effective ways of targetting them. But despite everything it was still better than most of the garbage on tv.
  17. It happened to a friend of mine but it wasn't the silencer that caused the power loss. What happened is when he attached the silencer the extra weight on the barrel was pulling it down slightly and air was escaping at the breech. He took it to the gunsmith and the problem was fixed.
  18. Take your gun to a good gunsmith and explain the situation and he will recomend the best course of action for you.
  19. It seems pretty pointless to me 10.2ftlbs is more than enough power to cleanly kill suitable quarry. If you want to get a few more ftlbs out of the rifle try some different pellets first.
  20. I sold mine a couple of weeks back for £280
