  1. Hi people, just looking for some advice on ratting as never done it before with ferrets. I have just got permission on and around a livery so plenty of food stores and that about for the horses, hoping to be a hobby for the summer for the ferrets and dog. I got a big hob so will he be to big for their runs? will one dog be enough?2 3 would be better i guess. Ferrets getting bitten any problems with that?other than it hurts. When i last went years ago we just moved hay and stuff about to bolt them for the dogs. Any advice much appreciated!
  2. Its in the freezer.(no waste) Any reason not to feed it to the ferret?

  9. Went out again for a couple of hours today took them BOTH, First warren the dog mark well both dogs mark was in some lovely brambles about 9 holes, we had to clear a bit out but not to hard work. We netted all the holes (missed a ducking bolt hole) up and put the ferret down the hole, 20sec's later bunny come flying out ferret not far behind. Picked him up and move to the other side of the warren and put him in, 1min later an explosion of earth with a rabbit runny from its life from the ferret still trying to catch it. Gutted about that bunny, when i had a look at the hole it came out of
  10. Yeah its often hard to make them blot when put down by the dog i agree, but the comments on it being hard work for the hob, he has kill two(its his first season) and dragged them out one of them was out of a high 20s warren. He prob does leave one or two down, but not doing any ferreting at the mo as pest control just for the ferrets and me. Out tomorrow with the locator and his brother see if that gets better results. thanks for comments all!
  11. If you haven't watched it, there is a episode on kill it cook it eat it on rabbiting and it show you how to do it.
  12. Went out ferreting today with a lad I meet on here. We started about 8.30 and went on a bit of land his dog been chasing bunnies about close to where I live and didn’t know about. Ferreted bits and bobs at the top of a steep hill where the dog had just chassed one up with no luck. We moved on to field I’ve been using this winter, which hold a good few burrows. The fields were very waterlogged from last nights rain so checkout the banking, the first set of holes the dog mark we netted which I thought was only 5 holes turned out to be 6. No rabbit bolted but heard plenty of bumping about, th

  18. Thats the same as me, works well nice and easy.
  19. do you work that ferret mate ifso it must be a pain re setting any nets that ones touched yeah his a great worker, but your right his has no chance of just slipping the net holes. bit of a pain, but his worth it as he never bits and doesn't f**k about if no bunnies at home.
  20. yeah [bANNED TEXT] i do, think i'll keep him on the lead next time get him into marking mode with no distractions see if that works.
  21. good luck getting rid of them all, if it was that easy there would be none about on any golf courses.
