  1. these things happen when chasing quarry, but the dog will hopefully not hang by its leg again, they need to learn that they will need to clear it or they will hurt themselves......in most cases ,and its not so easy to put a big lurcher under your arm and throw them over ....each to their own bud
  2. i had a dog for a few years....excellent jumper, used to get ripped alot though due to the amount of work he done on bigger quarry....anyway,he was on a old country road spotted a long ear,at this point he was off the lead...so he went to enter the feild at speed.....and hits two slack strands of barbed wire,a real old fence, about 2ft high, trying to jump it in a hurry.....dog ended up with 28 staples and 7stitches.....from his stomach to his knee....not very nice to look at....but this can happen even without jumping.....its all part of the dog game
  3. thats a crackin mutt tomo ...but you should be helping it rather than taking photos....
  4. ive got a 10 year old and a 14 year old that jump them daily and have done all there lives, jumping is as much a part of lurcher work as retrieving is, if you want to wrap it in cotton wool then stick to fly ball anybody that runs dogs knows that jumping is an essential part of the dog working
  5. I disagree! If it wont jump a fence with you then lift the f****n thing over. I personally dont want my dog jump but she does. Jump all the time and it a fcuking nightmare. Many times my dogs jumped a fence and comes over it hundreds of yards down the field. My whippet could have lost her eye if the fence would have hit her 10mm to the side. Fecking worrying if your lamping next to a main road and the rabbit dives under the fence! Jumpings a bonus but not a necessity and at times more of a hindrence than a help. a lurcher that canny jump is not worth a f*ck tae me......a can
  6. f*ck that hear, hear! On a walk with my big boy ridgeback (145 lbs) I have to lift the bruiser over a gate - not for the feint hearted! rather you than me bud
  7. i usually chase rabbits fur mine tae....incase his wee legs get tired ....
  8. my last dog would jump anything anywhere, any height.....but i seen some of the worst injuries happen to this dog, that i have ever seen....with barbed wire etc......always getting stitched up,stapled up,scars all over the f*ckin thing....good dog though
  9. only fence i would lift them over is them f*ckin razor sharp double fences,if the dog has not already jumped it.....or a deer fence due to the height, but my dog has been known to jump them on some quarry
  10. canny jump its as much use as a chocolate fireguard mate....
  11. these muppets don't know their arse from their elbow, don't think they are brought up in the real world ,they would not be saying all this shit if it was 30,40 years ago....and the dogs were catching their f*ckin dinner
  12. running dogs aint for the faint hearted mate, most people on here will have had dogs that some really bad stuff has happened too(myself included),but if you are right into it...these things won't put you off,you just need to get on with it mate ...you just need to man up ...
  13. well done pal,the spun poly is great stuff....good amount of different colours too, hope all goes well at the weekend for ye... ..atb...
  14. aye.....sum f*ckin trumpets aboot
  15. sorry to be so blunt pal......but if you's love him to bits, then i would not run him on the lamp......there will only be one outcome, and it won't be nice ,i think greys could go lamping no problem, but they would need to from a young age to learn,......i would not be so sure with an ex-racing greyhound ,if you are determined to work him in the feild,i would try daytime first...and you will see what he is like with chasing quarry and running around obsticles etc....hope it works out for you pal ....atb....
  16. what are they walking, rather than bolting?
  17. survival of the fittest when they are that age ,they will usually grow out of it
