  1. break into the ferreting sport..... ,get a ferret and a few nets....aint rocket science..
  2. I totally agree with this - I reckon a large number of dogs are passed over if they don't hit the ground running in their first season...don't think I have ever sen a dog ruined by waiting 6 months or giving it time...seen a fair few f****d up by idiots sending a pup in to do an experienced dog's job... some of the best dogs I have seen....have been passed on for being shite.....and took on and gave a chance by people I know, but when they have been given time to mature....and doing their job well, then who looks like an useless c**t...
  3. mines is the same 2 n a half......they will calm down eventually.. ....I think..
  4. interested in a swap for a couple of fox nets?
  5. that was close mate...atb.. shes got scares all over pal I had a dog called scar....that was a mistake calling him that.. ....the thing was f****n covered in big nasty scars, usually happening from chasing deer....so you can imagine....need less to say the dog killed himself chasing a deer... ,I think the worst one was 23 staples and 8 stitches....one big rip from the ribs to the knee cap....not nice. ...but expected....thing was a f****n looney
  6. as said,it comes hand in hand with running dogs ....anyone who WORKS DOGS will have seen some right horrible things....(myself included) ,my current dog is the worst yet I have had for this....prey drive through the roof.. ....but the results speak for themselves..
  7. sorry mate just noticed you said it was a full kit off of ebay ....pm sent...
  8. what net making gear have ye got pal?....pm if you like...
  9. thought that before i posted the topic.... ....just wondered if someone could elabirate....
  10. the more i think about it,it does make sense ....i was a bit quick to reply and had not thought it through properly...so i will retract my statement blackgreyhound...who has walked the walk by the sounds of it ...i am no expert.....hence the reason i use this site.. ..but i am not daft either....and have been working dogs for quite a while, about 12 year a think....not as long as all you old farts ,it just so happens it has always been lurcher x lurcher...and they have all been great dogs, but they suit the ground i run....which also has alot to do with it i suppose..
  11. same mate ....but thats what am trying to figure out if there is more to it?.....or if i should carry on thinking what i have always thought....its what you put into them....a good honest hard graft..
  12. well with any lurcher you start with a 1x, to get any lurcher line. There some very good lurcher x lurcher bred out there . Ive had 1xs as they are very good rabbits dogs, with great nose, good feet+coat, and not bad stamina, for day+ night work. Isuppose with lurcherx lurcher bred you get faster type dog with more running dog in the mix, and with saluki in there prob better stamina. But the x i have now 1 x gsd x grey, a renown for very good stamina, that will run all night long, and plenty of guts for any quarry that you (may) bump into as well as rabbits pre ban, and not bad pace for big dogs.
  13. aye definetly pal....but you have a much better chance of the dog making the grade with a long line of proven working lurcher x working lurcher surely.... i am thinking more of the wastage of the over all litter

  15. right enough pal.....but the point i am tryng to get across is why not just breed a working lurcher to another working lurcher....then you will have a far better idea of what the pups will be like in the feild.....i think that most of the first cross litter would be wastage....and only a few will do the task intended....maybe not?....i don't know as i have never done this......and thats what i am tring to find out.
