  1. Lucky bugger. That looks good,I just have to find a metal folder.Have you caught any thing in it yet? Cheers, Peter my sense of priority went out the window a bit as i made it just before the squigs qwent into hibernation
  2. i recently madea chicken house from a modified wooden packing case, obviously a very large one you can get them from transport companies, knock the ends off and replace with panel which are shaped like the end of a house ie a square with a triangle on top. then add a double slopiing roof with a hinged setion for cleaning, a sliding door and detachable nesting boxes so you can take them off and sweep litter straight out, some split wood perches and yuor done clear as mud
  3. With regard to making rabbits bolt without ferrets, I think there maybe a bloke on here who likes to dig deep holes, so maybe he could help !! i have been lookng at the field regular but the runs arent really that clear yet, and i take it that last comment is to provove someone into answering lol
  4. i posted a topic a while back about how my runs which i snared on had been churned up by cows well the cows have been gone a while and its been frosty but the fieds are startig to recover, but i was just wondering how many days of the bunnies running would it take to mark out new runs on short grass, its still cold so they arent running far but at least they are out. i have just got woodgas DVD and made my own wires and i'm itching to get me wires out, any ideas? and an unrelated question does any body know of a way to get rabs to bolt their burys without the use of ferts
  5. i watched the video again and ive cracked it i did a foot of net and stopped as i wasnt using the right stuff , does anyone know where a could find some rings to practice on or have dimensions for sliders as i could make them? rob
  6. sounds like you had a lucky day lol or maybe they got hungry and had to come out
  7. yeah thefrost is killing me the rabs arent even coming out:(
  8. i am serious about getting them and i know lots of people who have a lack of time, in this modern world its normal but im not saying i can't make time if nessecary. can i ask a few more questions though; - what does all that money go towards? - is there an alternative to a ferret finder? - if that kind of money is needed i can't afford it so is there any other way of bolting rabs into nets? (smoke?)
  9. thats what i would think if the chest has hit raise a good couple of inches to get the head remember 6-9 inches to the bottom of the noose depending on grass length
  10. you sound a bit of a lazy sod is there any reason you couldnt spend less than a minute to clean them out thats out of order mate when did i say that, watch the personal abuse!!
  11. get a goldfish it isnt as much work if your not prepard look after anything properly dont get it but good on ya for asking first ok thanks but that didn't actually help and even though it floods where i live i don't think that a goldfish would be much use against a rabbit
  12. im no expert but according to woodga dVD this is becasue a rabbits chest has hit it and kocked the tealer out (this is normal) and another rabbit has caught its paw, hence the fur. PS get the DVD as you will soon become addicted to snaringg and its brilliant
  13. can i ask why the 2:1 ratio?
  14. is there an official ferreting season? and i heard that jills smell less and are less likely to lay up on a kill but need neuturing or whatever the term is or they would need servicing at least once a year so i was wondering how much having jill castrated is or whether it would be best to go for the smell hobs and do hobs fight? thanks rob
  15. nicely put lol i think it is about 25yrds if not a bit longer
  16. If you havent got the time to clean them every day fella then dont bother getting ferrets. They can be fed on dry although meat is best but with meat especially in the summer it has to be removed daily. My advice to you is to read as much as you can and to ask as many questions as you want and after a few months then make your decision whether you have the time and inclination for ferrets. There a quite a few knowledable people on this forum who are only too willing too help. i think ib can fit the time in and the gear is cheap i would give them as much meat as i could but this would not
  17. i dont want to do much, are they hard work ?dont bother getting any living creature as they all need care and time ,get hold of some good books then make up your mind if you have enough time to care for them sorry for my shorthand i meant i did not want to do loads of hunting not that i dont want to care for them, is it true they can be trained to use a mesh square as a toilet so the waste fallstrough?
  18. i already have the purse nets as a mate gave me somebut what other equipment do i need to work them and how versatile are they ie just rabbits and what situations? will any hunt or do i need hunting bred?
  19. and what is the minimum amount of equipment required to keep and work them?
  20. fear notjust get a helicoil the right size and your sorted google it
  21. i would like to get some my mum might take some persuading space is not a problem but cleaning out once a day and frreshmeat everyday could be a problem how much do they eat? and can you supplement it with dry food?
  22. i have a long piece of square net mesh which could be made into a lonnet but i don't know much about them, what is the theory behind them? do thjey just hang loose and the bunnys get tangled or what? how do you set them? thanks rob
  23. how many is the minimum number of ferrets you can keep as i hear they smell etc and i dont want to do too much, are they hard work?
  24. "YOU LOOSE MORE BUNNYS THAN YOU CATCH " is that even possible and at 5-6 inches you are looking about less than 4 inches of single stand fence wire holding your bunny, in rock hard ground maybe but as soon as it thaws hes F***ked
  25. i take it from that order to be posted is illegal even if you do it by phone?
