  12. I guess the point in this day and age is to show that we are all doing it lawfully...otherwise it will give the anti's more ammunition. Like Ian says if you are doing anything illegal then dont post up about it... Hunting or fieldsports in any form don't need the spotlight any more...the less ammo we give the anti's the better. atb p.s. no guests while i was posting.....they must be happy with me ...lol

    RSPCA.....

Well just thought i'd post this up to see who can be bothered to waste as much of their collection teams time. We just had a lovely girl call wanting to ask for donations....she never asked up front or noticed the working gear in the boot of the car next to our door, and she seemed a bit clueless about the working side of animal pest control. Intorduced her to the Plummer Terrier, history politics etc... The history of the grey squirrel and grey and brown rat... The recently highlighted issue of the red fox and problems arising from townies feeding foxes, i explained that i had had
  15. SB...i suppose there are two answers, neither will be fully correct though. i believe in 1996 they were confirmed as a breed? so i suppose from that point on you could say they were Plummer Terriers.....that said i think it will be the same as any other breed becoming a breed. if it does get kc status they will want to look back at the pedigrees for a certain length of time [which is where the %'s come into it] if there is too heavily a dominated % f one breed or the other, as we know its made up of a few breeds, then they may well just say it is still just a mongrel? if they are happy that
  16. Cheers WC...gotta say i like the way the epts thinks and as you have stated they/we do seem to cover most of the concerns you voice, within our ethos. [back to the thread now] working though i have to say that i know of quite a few female owners who do regularly work their dogs as much as the next fella so to speak...to fox. i do think personally that some are in it for the money [probably a bit like any breed] Bilbo cost me 250 notes and knowing he came from a working home wit hgood working lines was important. imho i believe ther has to be a price to be paid for a worker to give some va
  17. ...a bad choice of words there ....that said i am sure once charlie is home he will get on with it atb
  18. i think the kc want different types in a breed to show that there is a wide gene pool...that said it is the health side they want improving [more so after the past couple of years fiasco with certain breeds and the bad pr] the relatively larger numbers of other breeds out there means although there will be issues with health, it should be a small percentage of dogs. the problem with the pt is that it is still a relatively 'small' breed and the same number of dogs with faults means a bigger percentage of problems, especially when groups arent talking. gotta say from what i have found out
  19. I get the impression Bill might end up more of a hard dog than a bayer/bolter...only through his reaction to other dogs he has issues with . you can never tell till he's seen a bit though.... still i am after dog that can do bits of everything, and if a farmer mentions having a problem with a fox i want to know he will do the job whichever way so i can keep my permission. not too many problem foxes over here though so its few and far between and often the earth isnt on the land that the problem is. ..i hope he isnt a dog that needs digging to all the time as i dont think my body would put
  20. Will keep everyone updated as to his progress, on rats or bigger atb
