Go for your ticket and include every conviction on the application, If you can't remember all the details you can get that information from the police for a small charge, Last year we at SACs got a refusal overturned in favour of a member who had served an 18 months prison term for serious assault some years ago, every application is treated on its own merits and there's always the appeals system All The Best Tom

Limerick 999 say's: "i was in trouble many years ago its 15 yrs ago i got caught up wit the wrong crew and 3 of us robbed a house wit a gun i got charged wit armed robberyand got 3yrs in prison " I can't believe anyone would consider applying for any kind of shotgun/firearms certificate under these circumstances, and seriousley thinks anyone would take the responsibility of personally giving the go-ahead for a grant such as this?? Three men armed with a gun go into a house to commit a robbery!! Normally I would be the first to jump to anyones defence for a second chance, and have oft

LOOKS LIKE SNARING WILL BE BANNED
Foxgun Tom replied to BIG DUG's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
I thought SACs posistion on the snaring debate was clear and the issue concluded If you don't want to detract from the issues why mention the other issues agaiin?? The bottom line is an allegation/inference was made on numerous threads in this forum that the Scottish Association for Countrysports was not taking part in the snaring issue in Scotland that is incorrect If me telling the truth puts you off of joining SAC's thats a matter for you!! If your Scottish and want to lobby your MSP thats your right, I've allready lobbied mine on the issue as well as a couple of others including member -
I'm definately going SAC's has a stand there this year and I'm working on it, but I'll also be spending as much time in the beer tent Tom

Jason you litttle shit you started it But your right The only difference is myself and Deker disagree about the role of FEO's and how much clout they have and I'm certainly not gonna fall out with Deker over this!! We'll just a agree to disagree Just a couple of points and thats the end of the matter!!! Deker, I can't prove your wrong unless you have evidence your right and at no time did I say all FEO's are Idiots up here?? For me the matter is closed!! Myself and SAC's will wait and see how our junior member gets on and take it from there Tom Ps: Jason the only reason -

Despite what the signature may say on your FAC/SGC the reality is the FEO's report will prevail in the vast majority of cases. The Chief Constable only gets involved when the s**t hit the fan! You made the comment above can you back it up as factually correct?? Manager of the Firearms Licencing Department? I'll check this out with Strathclyde Police and see if anyone holds such an exalted posistion! Tom Ps: I notice you miss out my most relevant points in your reply -

I am extremely calm It is not a courtroom argument your right!! but it is a legal one that some members of the forum may face?? There are, as you are probably aware precidents allready set in law re: young people being granted a SGC. Any FEO is visiting you is a representative of the Chief Constable of that area, you do not have to be subserviant to someone who's is making enquiries on behalf of any Chief Constable especially! if that FEO is not up to date on current legislation Both myself and scotlandforever live in the same police region and both of us have had visits from two dif -

I'm not suggesting or asking anyone to rebel against the FEO I'm only stating what they're remit is!! and the rights of the aplicant when co-operating!! If someone is refusing a reasonable request for the cops to check security arrangements I'm not surprised he was refused his ticket, that request of inspection is for our safety (the general public) as well as his!! Thats a strange situation whats the guy got to hide Tom -

FEO he is nearly God. He most certainly is not!!! And no-one making an application should fear or be intimidated by them!!! All police forces have their own list of guidelines, they are just that guidelines and not acts of statute Police Forces are not there to interpret any legislation and that includes firearms legislation, they are there to enforce it!! All Judges/Sherrifs would ignore police guidelines as the have no standing in law!! Deker Say's A FEO visits a 15 year old in Swindon and decides he's mature, responsible, knowledgeable, calm, sound etc etc! A FEO visits a 1 -

DERRY LOVE STORY An elderly man lay dying in his bed. While suffering the agonies of impending death, he suddenly smelled the aroma of his favourite scones wafting up the stairs. He gathered his remaining strength, and lifted himself from the bed. Leaning on the wall, he slowly made his way out of the bedroom, and with even greater effort, gripping the railing with both hands, he crawled downstairs. With laboured breath, he leaned against the door-frame, gazing into the kitchen. Were it not for death's agony, he would have thought himself already in heaven, for t

The FEO is talkng mince there should be no restrictions on your certificate of anykind re:shooting with anyone else, wait and see what happens when it comes, if there's a problem (I don't think there will be) We'll (SACs) get it sorted Tom -
Why where you making sure that SACs was helping in the snaring fight. as far as I'm aware your not even a member?? Your only aim?? as I see it was to drum up support for The Countryside Alliance and a campaign their running?? after allready kicking ordinary Lurcher/Terriermen in Scotland in the bollocks re: Hunting with dogs here!!! And where was the abuse?? certainly not from Ian Clark!!! All you got from me was a truthfull response with regard to the Countryside Alliance in Scotland. You clearly started the issue by hijacking the thread, it was pretty niave of you to think I would'nt res

I forgot to add that this is an issue for the Scottish Parliament and the Scottsh MSP's alone!! They as MSP's will not take the slightest notice of other fieldsports enthusiasts outside their remit (Scotland) an English, Irish or Welsh gamekeepers views would be seen as irrelevant in this devolved issue and therefore unable to have an input Its a Scottish Government issue, not a UK Government responsibility as Big Dug would have you think Tom

I'm almost positive you can still shoot them here in the UK under the general open license as vermin?, Their numbers have significantly declined over the years you also need a good reason to shoot them?? just because they are on the list is'nt a good reason, If there's a health hazard or damaging crops eg: fouling grain in storage then have a go at controlling numbers, I personally have had no reason to shoot one for years Tom

Might sound silly?? but, what sort of damage can you do with a Lurcher/Terrier, Hawk/Falcon, Ferret, Airrifle.?Shotgun or Firearm?? thats worth 10 million pounds cover The stupid thing is that SAC's are considering the same value of cover at no extra cost to members, its fecking mad Tom Ps: our insurance is covered in your membership fee
