Well I was out with mine last night I did take it off when I got back home for the first time but didn't spray it. I will be trying it next time, cheers for the reply.

Is a 1in 12 any good for the 40g bullets?
-
Pestcontrol, so would you say gen1 works better with higher end scopes or gen3 better for the higher end scope?
-
It's not so much of an explosion it's the smoke from the barrel after the first couple of shots. Jonesbach, how long is it before you go back out after spraying with wd40, a couple of days or a week or so? Im interested as I only spray mine every 2-3 months then fire it the next day to burn off the oil. Im wondering if only a light film is left if the moderator isn't used for a few days.

I would guess so, but as I've never tried one I cant answer for definate. It wouldn't be to powerful or to blinding to shoot, it will be bright as day but you wont need that much light and would therefore reduce the life of the tube. You may get away with a more powerful led but to be honest I think I'd pay the bit extra for the variable. When you are shooting 100-200 yards if the gun is on a bipod it's easy to adjust the power of the laser with your left hand, it,s a cirular twist switch right at the back of the laser which is simple to just feel for when looking though your scope at the tar

I love the sound of a .22 it's like being in a western movie! peeeeaaaawwwwww, peeeeeeaaaaawwww, ppppppeeeeeeaaaaaaw

So I guess a standard sako barrel is one of your xyz barrels? Would I be better getting a 1in 10 or 1in 11 sako or would it not be what they say anyway? What is the price of an archer or Border barrel? Do I start by buying a complete gun and then send it off to be rebarreled or just buy it in bits? Sorry about the dumb questions!

I wrote an essay for you but then pressed delete and lost it so here it is in short hand: The N1000 is way to bright on my Yukon under 100yrds. Number 1 is plenty and you'll get more light through yours as it's a dedicated scope where as mine is an add on. 200yrd's I can see plain on 3 but crank it on 4 and it really light's up. 300yrd's I can see the eyes plain but can only see a fox on clear ground ie: field. Do yourself a favour get the N1000 laser. I put mine on my .22 but because it mounts to my add on I swivelled it so that it was to the left of the gun then swivelled the lamp to the

Thanks Tobias that's interesting. I would guess the 56mm scope would let in more light? I'll do a trial between my 42+50 and see the difference. I cant mount the mono on my 50 but its worth holding it in place to try your theory. Cheers

Mike this is very interesting as I am about to swap one of my 22-250's for a 204. I was thinking of the sako which I believe has the same barrel as the tika. I know nothing about twist rates or barrels etc. I just point and shoot, but that method only works if the guns up to the job. I guess the 1 in 11 twist is better for the heavier round so what twist rate should I avoid? I want the 204 for 200yrd foxes so need the most stopping power at the longer range of the gun. Is the 1 in 11 best for this? What barrel length should I go for? I walk alot so I suppose the most accurate but quite mano

If by variable you mean the brightness then yes the N1000 has 4 clicks which goes 1dim to 4 brightest then if you go past 4 it goes to off. This is very handy as when it's on my mono it's underneath and when the mono is used as an add on it's on top so it doesn't matter which way I turn it, when it hits a stop ie: before 1 or after 4 I know it's off. It's not confusing but when its on top or below the rotation of the brighness is reversed. It also has a variable spot or flood type beam and the beam is directable ie: you can position the beam to centralise the beam in your nv device. I think a d

WASP M4000 Night Vision Gen 3 Mill Spec Rifle Scope
sako replied to camo304's topic in Optics and Night Vision
Camo that looks a cracking scope pity it's out of my budget! How far is the mounting in view in the photo? -
I've got a blitz with IR filter and a N1000 laser, I haven't really tried the blitz againt the laser as the N1000 seems good for 200-300 yrds and it attaches to my mono so only one hand is required so haven't bothered trying. I'll be back now to answer your question..............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Sounds like something I should invest in! Where do I buy it?

If your begining to think you want a .22 you,ve now got to choose do you want a semi automatic or bolt action. The semi is great fun on running rabbits if there's a safe backstop, but most will tell you if you are serious about shooting them with a .22 get a single shot. It must be so you try harder not to miss! .22 ammo is rediculously cheap as said but personally it would be the .17 for rabbits. Wait until someone with both .22 and .17 gives you the advice. Im sure a .17 will drop rabbits out 150yrds. If you were to aim a foot high maybe more and hit them with a .22 that probably would kil

Andy my opinion would be a .17hmr for mainly rabbits. I've never owned one but I have used one they are much flatter shooting than the .22rf but the sub sonic round in the .22 with sound mod is pretty quiet it's almost like an air gun it sounds s***e but effective for rabbits if you follow the rainbow of the bullet and hit them. People say they do pull off 100yrd head shots with the .22 which I would imagine takes a lot of practise where a .17 would be a lot easier. Here's an example of the .22...... I zeroed it at 70yrds went out after a few rabbits and missed more than I hit. That said that

Pestcontrol, I like the look of that mod it looks easy to clean even for me! Have you got any opinion of the stainless steel types? Are the washer's and workings stainless steel? Azman, M-Pro 7, Im guessing that must be some kind of oil? Is that a specific gun type oil or something else?
-
Cheers derboy lets hope they do, my variation form should be here tomorrow and it's not going to be sitting about long because my middle name is rush in head first regret it later!
-
What so you mean Im meant to maintain my guns? Im going off this shooting lark! So you clean that wildcat after every time the gun is used even if you've only fired 1 shot at a fox. Or what if you go out and dont even shoot at anything, do you take it off and strip it down then because of the condensation after taking it into the warm? Would you clean it every time with wd40 or just wipe it? Sorry if these are stupid questions but Im begining to see where I've gone wrong with the T8.
-
Right Im getting there! So now which is the best for the cross winds up in the hills?
-
Do you not find your first couple of shots can fly off from the zero at distance with the explosion of oil? I seem to find when I remove and clean mine I need to fire it before it settles down again.
-
I wish someone would give you some answers, I could do with some advice on this as Im varying my fac for a calibre like yours! All I can tell you is I've got a T8 on my 22-250 and it rusts like hell. You have to take it off every now and again and spray it with wd40. I blow it out with compressed air then let it dry but shake it every couple of hours to get as much out as I can. She smokes a bit for the first few rounds but that soon goes. Im thinking of a stainless steel moderator but Im waiting for others opinion's on it first. There are the types you can dissmantle and clean but Im afraid

So what's got the most stopping power at 150-200yrds? Are any of them any good for 250yrds? which is the flattest shooting? As I want it for nv I just want to point and aim. After last night with a .22 I'll be sticking to the 22-250 and lamp until I sort the variation. (until it gets dark then I probably wont be able to resist this new addiction!) I dont mind the bullet going sraight through, Im used to it with the 22-250. There's usually a mountain behind the foxes I shoot at so backstop is hardly ever an issue.
-
After the 22-250 was way to jumpy without the mod I resorted to putting the S&B on the .22 I tried it tonight with the yukon add on and all I can say is you lot are cheaters using night vision on rabbits! But a .22 they cook me! zeroed it today at 70yrds (first mistake) I just thought shots will be 50-100yrds so 70 sounded good. First rabbit thought it was about the zero range ....missed second rabbit lamped about 120yrds I walked around popped up over a bank looked through the nv the rabbit filled the scope, must have been 20yrds....missed! he ran about 20yrds further and stopped I pulle

The shine is only a problem at dawn and dusk and old charlie does tend to pick up on the slightest movement during the daylight. I really wouldn't want to tape a floating barrel like they do with air rifles, but I suppose if it was a problem I don't suppose spraying it would do any harm. Well I think that's a 204 stainless barrel and stainless silencer. Cheers derboy
