  5. Bouncer is the man! His face is a picture. And the van is pure class as well!
  6. Stick at it lads they may turn up yet. If you need a hob I have one you can have, one of this years. Have you still got a collar? You could try putting a line on a hob with a locater collar on, only let it go 6 ft at a time, locate it and dig to the tube, then do the same again. Best of luck fellers, if you need a hand give us a shout.
  7. Think it's one of those contact the stockist for price jobs! I thought the same, and would not normally give them a second glance because of it, but one or two of those spade's look decent.
  8. Always liked making my own out of cut down roundmouths from bulldog, but I was looking recently at some of these spear and jacksons fiberglass ones, some of them seem to have come on a lot lateley! May be looking at one of these for a try! http://www.spear-and-jackson.com/en/produc...tractor-shovels Have a look through the pages, could maybee do with a longer handle than 28" though.
  9. Only just seen this, good luck guy's and hope it turns out ok. If you need any help give me a shout.
  10. Good read Luke, sounds like a fun day out and the mishaps are just part of it! Does sound like your neighbour's not to interested to be honest, are the other ferrets ok?
  11. Good going Magwitch, is there many left on that spot now?
  12. Spot on. Incidentely it was on a warren like the last one you done that I lost the only ferret I have ever lost. The holes looked simple enough to a 15 year old at least. But after she had not emerged i tried digging around the rock to see if I could find her all I found was a crevis about 6" wide that seemed to go down for ever. Even though it was a good five mile walk to the farm i went back 3 or 4 times but never did find her. The rabbits are better than us or anything that chases them up there, some cannot be caught, thats why they are there.
  13. Best dogs only need holding back from harming themselves.
  14. Just a passenger on it mate, like the last and like the next! God help them!
  15. Can I add I had to dig only 3 times today, but had to net up bloody loads! Big hobs and locaters V/s nets they all cancell each other out in the end, Do what you want, the rabbits is always better than you!
  16. Between a rock and a hard place mate!
  17. Hello chaps and the odd chapess, had another outing today. Alongside the usual wanting to get as many rabbits as possible, I set myself the challenge of trying to get away with no digging, or as little digging as possible. (Plenty of no locater talk lately!) I took out the 8 yr old russel, starting to wonder what his name is as 'b*****d' get's shouted that much, also 2 of 2007's albino hobs, these are small - medium hobs, just getting back in shape after I'd overfed them for 2 weeks, now almost at fighting weight! (Billy bob the fang and his brother.) Late start at 9pm to be honest, f
  18. Just looking at the dog you can see he's a propper character, if a dog has a nose for it, you'll always have rabbits! Looks like he enjoys himself as well! Sometimes it's more fun watching a dog thats not meant to chase them!
  19. Wahey! Get back at em John! Bouncer is one of my favorite uncoventional rabbiting dogs!
  20. No, use your head looking at warrens, any drains leave alone fullstop, or real deep looking holes. Try the smaller warrens, allways in with a chance if things do get hard, use one ferret, better a jill to bolt, keep away from sight and try not to make to much noise and you are already lessening the chances of trouble. Watch the dogs, most dogs can be usefull on a warren, there nose and ears are better than yours. If you can get a locater it's good insurance, and morally right if the ferrets start killing down.
  21. NO probs when do you want me to start? (Any rabbits under there by the way?) if i tell you there's loads under will you dig faster? If there are loads i'll do it for free!
  22. Yes I understand fully, and i'll admit i've become crash bang wallop as time has gone on! I'd not be terribly worried if a locater packed up on me, probs just a bit miffed I may have to leave a kill in, the dogs would probs put me close, within range, and my own hearing when up close put's me close as well, and anyone that has seen me work know's i'm pretty physical, and not scared of shoving my hands full stretch up tubes alongside a ferret on the job to pull out the rabbit. I've read previous posts from you and know you have done a lot in the past, and what you say about reading the old
  23. NO probs when do you want me to start? (Any rabbits under there by the way?)
  24. Think we all probs started off as kids without one to be honest, it's now a must for the way I work now, I suppose you could maybee get away without one with a good understanding of what's going on. Just going to be a pain leaving any kills down, and if the worst happens. Tiercel have you ever watched someone good with a locater work? They are superb bits of kit to be honest.
  25. Hang on Tomo! Just looking at those bowbacks, there bigger than my cages! No wonder you need the gate to prop you up! Seriously, it's good to see you back at them!
