Almost certainly cooked mate, sorry. They can cope with a lower temp. for a while but they dont last long if it gets too hot.
-
I kill them at about 20-24 weeks, they are slow to finish though they really fill out in the last few weeks. They make big birds in the end with meat everywhere, huge breasts and loads on the legs and thighs too, much more than a supermarket job, and I think the extra time adds something to the flavour. You would definatly be eating a modern meat hybrid like a ross cob much sooner, probably 12 weeks or so depending on how big you want them. Consider getting a few of those now too and when youve eaten your way through them your Indians will probably be ready. I feed mine growers to about 18

Its too late for Newcastle, even with Shearer. I cant see him staying long either, he wont fancy mixing it in the championship with the likes of West Brazil. Ha Ha. Come on Stoke

You could try Chelford market(Frank Marshall) on a monday, failing that Market Drayton (Barbers) on a wednesday or Shrewsbury (Halls) on Tuesday.

I keep jubilee and dark indians and free range several cocks together in the summer, they will fight at first but they soon sort out a pecking order. They are penned in breeding groups at the mo and one of my cocks got into the neighbouring pen yesterday, I didn't find out till the evening and apart from a couple of bloody combs and some broken feathers they were fine. The chicks can be quite game compared to some and I rear them under a red light as it cuts down on the pecking, best things a broody hen though. Brilliant table birds but a bit slow to finish. Rich

Tell you what mate ill let this one go you see if you can catch it. I've been trying to catch one for the last two months, tryed a dead rabbit and caught one straight away. When I went to get it out it hopped up and flew right over my shoulder leaving me clutching at air. Doh! haven't had a sniff since.

look on the brinsea website for temperature and humidity settings. They will differ according to wether you have a still or a forced air incubator. -
Dont you mean in the beating line one MINUITE and hunting rabbits and foxes the next. lol

I've just had a .223 added to my ticket (they wouldn't give me a 243 ) I would be interested in which rifle/ scope combos other members use and their impressions of them. Rich

So who bought the sancturary? It would be a pisser to see hounds hunting across it again.

My flighting pond
farmerrich replied to whippeter69's topic in Gamekeeping, Conservation & Shoot Management
I wouldn't bother feeding the pond till the end of July, your just wasting your money and your enthusiasm will soon be exhausted. If you want to put some feed out for the gamebirds put a few hoppers full of wheat out fot the next 3 months near any good nesting cover, they will bring the pheasants in and keep them in good condition for breeding, you will hopefully have a few bonus wild broods for next season. Keep on top of the vermin too, still plenty of fun to be had . -

Hi mate, not far away from you, live near Stone. I keep a few birds myself, not great egglayers though. Indian game for meat and becuse I like em and a few bantam crosses for eggs and brooding chicks. I built a pen like the keepers do for releasing pheasants but a bit smaller. 5 x 5m using 7ft posts and 6ft chicken wire. Bang your posts in 2ft and put a plain straining wire all around the top. Clip your wire to it all around, leaving space for a door and so that it overlaps 1ft on the ground. Then run another length of wire round the bottom to pin it down. Now for the important bit, get yourse

Hi all, I though this might be a good place to ask if anyone North Staffs way keeps Old English Game. I'm looking for 4 or 5, any colours. I keep Indian Game in dark and jubilee and might be able to spare a couple for swaps, or some hatching eggs from some of my best birds later on. Great looking Shamo pics by the way guys, I never used to be keen on them but am being drawn more and more towards the game fowl these days. Ta, Rich

I can't say I've never broken the law, like Bob(?) Ive been done for speeding. There are loads of laws I don't agree with, the hunting act for one. Thats not really relevant. Stealing is a bit more fundamental than that, its a completely different moral level. Also, I don't believe anyone in this country poaches to survive. On justifying the cost of fishing some of the more exclusive beats, how much do you think it costs to run a well managed fishery? Pay a beatkeeper, maintain banks, cut weed, clean gravels? How many tickets can you sell per day on say a three mile stretch? Multiplied by

No, I have never poached. I have got together with mates to stock a small pool with rainbows for our own sport and had it wrecked by theiving scum though. I am in a small shoot also. Just a group of mates who put down a few birds and do a bit of keeping for a couple of days at the pheasants. If someone walked through our pen with an air rifle one night and took half a dozen pheasants that would have a big impact on our sport. If 4 or 5 lads decided to come and help themselves to a few for the pot it would wreck the whole season. There are loads of people out there who don't own a shooting est

get real mate whats that got do with poaching thiers a big difference now go and post your 2nd post mr newbie Their both theft mate. Thats my second post then pal, do I qualify to have an opinon yet?

On the subject of poaching, seems some of you guys don't see the harm in taking a bit of sport off the back of someone elses hard work. Heres a link to a post on this board http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index...showtopic=77690 Whats his problem? its only a few nets and stuff. Not worth that much and the blokes that stole them probably couldn't afford their own. Why should they miss out on a bit of sport? Is there a difference? I don't think so.
