If I wanted too compete with coursing dogs I'd use a coursing dog especially when it comes too money, I wouldn't be that happy with a saluki that coursed hares only either no matter how good it was I'd rather an decent allrounder to be honest get more out of it There's Salukis and there's Salukis same as in any type, you just try get best you possibly can and work on it, ive just taken back a young pure bred dog who on paper better bred than my current runner but in reality he won't make half the dog my present one is, why? goes full circle to are we coursing the hare or setting out too kill him, its blurred more cause of the law changes, but the old coursing clubs weren't as kill driven as the modern couser, but there was rules so each dog was tested properly and fairly, not just chucked on whatever gets up, likesay a real good hare will evade all but the very best dogs even when he kicked up, lesser dogs he will simply leave for dead, off a massive slip even the best dogs will have to be on his game to catch the best hares, if they where that easy too catch it would not be worth doing, but plenty spend enough t

There is no answer too that question, every hare is an individual and every dog is an individual, every run is different, be it ground conditions weather, whatever, when the hare gets up you know nothing about it until its dead , could be green as grass, could be a highly skilled veteran, dog could be feeling off color or suffering a strain that worsens over the day, its simply about testing the dogs ability too course and catch the hare, good hare? good dog? shit hare? shit dog?, everyone sees the course differently as well, some see it one way some another,, one thing I do know is that

My biggest concern with the greyhound would be injuries especially them feet, but slipped right one that's schooled right n ran too it's strengths could be exciting, seen one do a couple of fox n made very short work of them, very aggressive animal but very injury prone he was failed track dog so likely not ideal but you could not moan about his commitment for certain

Yeah I agree there some of the first dogs I ever see run a hare were greyhound didn't mind the odd deer and fox either. But for me if I get a lurcher pup I want it to have a good chance of doing a few different things hares day or night big or small land few fox the odd deer or bit of ferreting it's hard enough to do this with a cross bred lurcher let alone a fast and furious greyhound. I think if you put the law too one side and every type was ran off proper fair law slips the kills would drop dramatically, I do still however think that the saluki lurcher would come out on top in this country, but as said above its best that all types are tried and tested after all that's what they bred for

if success came that easy the arabs would do just that, money no real object to some of them, just like its not here, but then again them with most money don't always have the best dog, and those that lucky enough too have great dogs regardless of money always worry theres something better around the corner, at the end of the day its all about getting out and doing your best and hoping the dog does the same
