  1. If I wanted too compete with coursing dogs I'd use a coursing dog especially when it comes too money, I wouldn't be that happy with a saluki that coursed hares only either no matter how good it was I'd rather an decent allrounder to be honest get more out of it There's Salukis and there's Salukis same as in any type, you just try get best you possibly can and work on it, ive just taken back a young pure bred dog who on paper better bred than my current runner but in reality he won't make half the dog my present one is, why? He simply the wrong stamp too small the other one third bigger n
  2. make sure there's none of that shitty saluki breed in there then Beddy x whippet it is then eh
  3. They marmite lol I love em but I can understand others not liking them I didn't used too like bull cross until I saw a real un What most don't get is us saluki owners want the best pure bred not the best hare killer, but sure I'd love one that could beat ever lurcher who wouldn't
  4. Fair play if it ain't broken why fix it,
  5. What's your opinion of the breed then?
  6. to get the wizz bangers found out and test the dogs stamina more, some of the slips in the forley cups were 300 yards plus which would take it toll on inferior dogs but would make little difference to the top dogs see I watch that and I see a real slip and real test of a dog, dogs that kill from that sort of slip consistently are the real deal, gives the poorer hares a chance and the real uns almost too much of a chance, but when the dog stood over a a kill from a run like that the pride you would feel would be genuine, kick one up and no matter how long the run someone will always be able
  7. Why was fair law given at forley calendar cups etc?
  8. But that surely proves the dog is the superior athlete all things being equal...... well you best get off ya arse and go to the alentejo and ask the fella I've seen and caught plenty of Hares but I've never had a Saluki or Saluki cross to see what they are like. somebody send him chalky and the boys dvds or look on you tube plenty on there
  9. goes full circle to are we coursing the hare or setting out too kill him, its blurred more cause of the law changes, but the old coursing clubs weren't as kill driven as the modern couser, but there was rules so each dog was tested properly and fairly, not just chucked on whatever gets up, likesay a real good hare will evade all but the very best dogs even when he kicked up, lesser dogs he will simply leave for dead, off a massive slip even the best dogs will have to be on his game to catch the best hares, if they where that easy too catch it would not be worth doing, but plenty spend enough t
  10. There is no answer too that question, every hare is an individual and every dog is an individual, every run is different, be it ground conditions weather, whatever, when the hare gets up you know nothing about it until its dead , could be green as grass, could be a highly skilled veteran, dog could be feeling off color or suffering a strain that worsens over the day, its simply about testing the dogs ability too course and catch the hare, good hare? good dog? shit hare? shit dog?, everyone sees the course differently as well, some see it one way some another,, one thing I do know is that
  11. Is that Sagars Annie ?No mate it's annyah of the Nile different Bitch think she was RP/KB cruise bred, think few owned her AP, Irish bob and kipper,
  12. was only two dogs packer got the other one but moved him on when he got pups out of lucy, he was an up and at em dog, was doing well enough, he still in the north east as far as I know, quiet fella has him,
  13. smashing dog and get stuck right into them from the little ive seen of him, once he settles I reckon he will do real well mate, very soundly built animal with great speed, your bitch produced some smashing pups fair bit of variety in that litter too,, love the rough haired ones, your bitch put a fair stamp on it too
  14. I could of cried when Coco lost the pups she was carrying too Rocco, was a real kick in the bollocks, really think that would of clicked, if and when he lines your bitch I think it will be an interesting litter, think Ive a pic somewhere of a rough haired one that TW kept out of coco, also got pics of coco when she come up to get lined Pearl Rocco, Candy, Floss, etc where a real good litter, couple got unlucky died doing what they where bred for as pups, rest stayed with owners from being pups, think only one changed hands and that stayed in its next home for good so not a bad outcome, the
  15. well up for it 18k two week in bed smoking gov grown/confiscated top notch weed watching movies listening to music playing poker n reading etc, where do I sign up
  16. and clunes is just a f***ing muppet, what a knob, his show about dogs is rubbish, the crap he spouted shows he know nothing of them
  17. makes you shudder don't it mind I will sleep well tonite knowing them poor dogs will never again endure the horrors they been forced to partake in, Id wager that bull x loved every minute of it poor things will be miserable in said safe loving home fair does them boys did themselves no favours but lots of us done the same with pics etc you live n learn, but the whole report was a shower of shite, not even any real attempt too ramp it up , they that sure people are that gullible to fall for it, way that rspca divvy spoke saying people who hunt are unstable cruel etc would he sa
  18. sad to retire one for sure but your left with a load of great memories and a whole new challenge schooling your pup very best of luck pal, and your right its about getting out and enjoying them more than anything else
  19. Mine was smallest n skinniest in the litter a dog in a bitchs body he made 26tts n lean as they come but he always done me proud ? Your stands like he used too when he was younger. Was a twat too get a good pic of lol, Seeing your was like looking back in time lol
  20. My biggest concern with the greyhound would be injuries especially them feet, but slipped right one that's schooled right n ran too it's strengths could be exciting, seen one do a couple of fox n made very short work of them, very aggressive animal but very injury prone he was failed track dog so likely not ideal but you could not moan about his commitment for certain
  21. Chuffed for ya pal good too hear he beck and sound
  22. Now he really floats my boat I'd have another coursing dog if it was that one, reminds me of Rocco, hope he gives you half the pleasure the brother too your ones dam has given me mate, think a couple of these types will do exceptionally well next season Your bitch looking well too Daz ?
  23. Yeah I agree there some of the first dogs I ever see run a hare were greyhound didn't mind the odd deer and fox either. But for me if I get a lurcher pup I want it to have a good chance of doing a few different things hares day or night big or small land few fox the odd deer or bit of ferreting it's hard enough to do this with a cross bred lurcher let alone a fast and furious greyhound. I had a feathered small saluki bitch here for a while would Run all day for aslong as it needed to I got it unbielivably fit me and a feller that's on here tom was out with it one day it was hitting the har
  24. I think if you put the law too one side and every type was ran off proper fair law slips the kills would drop dramatically, I do still however think that the saluki lurcher would come out on top in this country, but as said above its best that all types are tried and tested after all that's what they bred for
  25. if success came that easy the arabs would do just that, money no real object to some of them, just like its not here, but then again them with most money don't always have the best dog, and those that lucky enough too have great dogs regardless of money always worry theres something better around the corner, at the end of the day its all about getting out and doing your best and hoping the dog does the same
