  1. not all dogs that are timid have been beaten you know . ive got a pup that is 6 mths old and ive had him since he was 9 week old, ive neva raised my hand to him and ive spent alot of time with him ( i take him every where with me ) and he has always been timid since i got him at 9 weeks old and he still is now at 6 mths . i just think that some dogs are just like that. i dont like him been timid but theres nowt i can do to change that and ive excepted the way he his . i dont think it will effect the way he will work as he trained realy easy and hes very steady at what he does .
  2. yes it does eventually fry the battery ! better to take the battery off when your using it when plugged in , just keep putting battery on for an hour or so every now and again to keep the battery topped up.
  3. i think thast very conciderate of you to warn the dog lads .even tho its to far for me to run my dogs but id just like to say thanks you top man
  4. i use milbemax wormers , ive found these to be the best . you get them from the vets
  5. are you sure you know what your on about brookie ? read the thread again hi boys and girls got a bit of adilemma i have a 23 month old saluki/greyhound dog that i bred myself well here goes a bit about the dog hes 100per stock broken will walk to heel will hunt up when told to recall 110per will mark burrows will jump a 6ft hawthorn hedge 24 longears 9 roe 4 fox heres my problem i have only been lamping twice in my life and dont know nothing about it so is it to late to start him would i be better getting a pup and start from scratch as i know running in the dark is a whole different ball
  6. pick a real windy night and try go for a lamp where there are a few bunnys , because its windy you will most probably find that sum of the rabbits lie flat ( squatters) walk the dog up to them and as they get up the dog should see them and give chase. the only trouble ive found that when you run day time and then start them lamping if they loose there quarry when lamping they tend to hunt out of the beam ( which is no good for the lamp ) always worth trying tho as some lurchers make the grade ( practice make perfect ) hope all goes well and some fine looking dogs you have got mate
  7. It's because of people like you that dogmen are looked down upon, and the ban will never be overturned. Do what you do, but think before you open your fecking mouth on an open forum. its an open forum mate and we are all allowed to give are views , so you can shut your fecking mouth as well not unless your going to give your view of the post maltenby
  8. The policve are talking absolute BULLSHIT mate, you can only shoot a dog that is worrying sheep if you have tried every other avenue to stop the animal, and, they would have to bve very sure they could prove that as well.I would seek the advice of a solicitor.Or,wait a few weeks and go and shoot every sheep in the field, and,I'm afraid that is what I would do,I would go to jail for my dogs.....FACT.................martin. p.s. try the lawyer that advertises in the Countrymans weekly.
  9. and that's just the attitude that farmers will take when you have a well hard fool like you putting things up like that! and bet you would be first to run with your tail between your legs if you where caught? why do you poacher? why don't you get of your arse and go and ask politely you might be surprised what answer you get ive been caught loads of times poaching and have neva ran , but when ive been out running the dogs i would neva run my dogs near sheep ! all im saying is that from what ive read on hear if the farmer has been watching this lad for 2 hours working his dogs on
  10. alright then another view to look at it is IF YOUR CHILD WENT TO SCHOOL AND WAS GETTING WORRIED ( PICKED ) ON WOULD YOU GO TO THE SCHOOL AND GIVE THE LAD A CRACK THAT WAS PICKING ON YOUR CHILD ? I THINK NOT YOU WOULD APPROACH THE SCHOOL AND INFORM THEM AS TO WHATS GOING ON AND LET THEM DEAL WITH IT ! SAME SORT OF THING JUST ANIMALS NOT PEOPLE , BUT PEOPLE CAN CONTROL THE ANIMALS AND YES IF THE LADS DOGS WHERE WORRING THE FARMERS SHEEP THE LAD SHOULD HAVE MOVED AWAY FROM THE FIELD SO THEY DIDNT BUT THE FARMER SHOULDNT HAVE WAITED 2 HOURS EITHER . 2 HOURS WOULD BE LONGER ANOTH FOR 4
  11. if the farmer has been watching for 2 hours this lads dogs wandering onto his land why has he left this mans dogs worring his sheep for so long ? MAYBE HIS DOGS WASNT WORRING THE SHEEP ! im sure 4 dogs would kill a field full of sheep in 2 hours ! to me the farmer has taken the law into his own hands and shot this mans dogs , why did he not ring the police or the farmer that has given this man permission to try sort it out with the lad first ? no the farmer choice wasnt to and to take the law into his own hands and shot this mans dogs , so i dont gine 2 monkeys fcks what any 1 says i wou
  12. im sorry to hear that the farmer has shot this mans dogs , its a shame and i bet the mans gutted but if a farmer did this to me then im sorry but the farmer has a lot more to lose than me and i would be going to prison now as i would kill every 1 of his sheep now !
  13. ive owned 2 dogs in my life time that used to do 50 + rabbits regular each in a night , they where both as fit as fidles but even then it was hard going for the dogs , so i would like to see a single dog do 100 rabbits in a night . if there is any i want a pup from them
