  1. You must have an understanding Mrs, it would be me laid out if I bought dead birds in to the kitchen. Nice shooting though, you can't beat days like that.
  2. Nice shooting, but you left me raging. Pricks like that have cost me some good wildfowl shooting in the past.
  3. Thanks for all the input, I will continue to be "over cautious". Regarding deaths by .22s I read in the Shooting Times a few years ago of a man in Scandinavia that killed his brother around a mile away when shooting black game from trees. They tend use non hollow points to minimise meet damage.
  4. Hello I am wanting opinions on the use of .22 rimfires please. I have a Ruger 10/22 and consider myself to be safe but sometimes over cautions with its use compared to others, I have owned one for about ten years and have shot with other people that have used one for much longer than me. This is because I know the bullets are liable to ricochet. I also don't shoot without a back drop but I know others use them for shooting birds and squirrels from trees, these bullets arc and have to stop somewhere! Also are there any bullets available with less chance of ricochets such as ballist tip
  5. Stick to a 3 shot - a Winchester Super X3 is a really good 3 shot auto that dosn't break the bank (cira. £700 new). You will be lucky to find one second hand cheap as they are holding their money well. and you still miss!
  6. NOt been on the foreshore yet due to new baby, however plenty of Mallard coming into the small flight pond I shoot (Banrsley). My friend had two Wigeon on the Humber last week, Pinks were about but are flying up the middle of river. Last Saturday saw five or six skiens of pinks flying west over M1 Junc 30 and on Sunday saw about fifty/sixty Pinks flying Eastwards over Barnsley Wakefield area, hopefully heading towards the Humber, if I ever manage to get over!
  7. For my wildfowling I take three calls with me. For the duck I use a 6 in 1 and what I belive is a plastic Olt for mallard. For geese I use an Olt 800. This was recommended by a professional guide and after some searching found one on e bay. They did stop making them at one point but they may be made again under another name. It is a versitile call and I use it for calling pinks, canadas and greys. Learning to make the different calls can take a while but if you keep it in your car you can practise to your hearts content with out anoying the rest of the family. A friend and me once c
  8. It all arrived yesterday, the day after ordering. Not charged delivery either, top service.
  9. Yes I have ordered a Swarovski 8x56 and optilock mounts and bases. All done over the phone so didn't get chance to see the tastey girl, I might ask them to stick a photo in the box though.
  10. After phoning round and surfing the web (no one from lamping.co.uk got back to me) got a really good deal from Greenfield of Salisbury on a scope, mounts and bases. Not arrived yet but he said it should be here by the end of the week, they seem very helpful.
  11. I will be putting them on a Sako 243 and will be used for mostly roe and muntjac. I was thinking of optilock mounts but not really done any research into them.
  12. Hello if you go through the above site (http://www.kwacs.org.uk/) and go to the West Riding Wildfowlers link Graham may be able to sort you out for areas on the south bank.
  13. Thanks for that, I'll have to have a haggle with them as they are coming in ay a similar price of £595 and still no reply from lamping.co.uk.
  14. Hello everyone I am looking to treat myself to a new scope and after reading advice from this site and speaking to people I am going to go for a Swarovski 8x56. Does anyone know where I can get a good deal on one? Lamping.co.uk seems the cheapest but it is only a mobile number on the web site (that never gets answered or returns my calls) so I'm a bit wary about using them. Their price is £508. I also need some mounts too, any suggestion would be appreciated, thanks.
