I have just bought a set of T5 collars and the Astro 320 handheld. There does not appear to be an option to activate bark detection on the handheld. I know someone who has a T5 that has working bark detection but some online info says the T5s don't have this feature. It is useful for hounds hunting out of hearing. Can anyone advise on this. I am in ireland by the way.

You can hunt foxes on a Sunday and all year round as they are not classed as game no game can be hunted or shot on a Sunday unlike the south. Was a way of stopping the lower class people who worked six days a week from getting out do do a bit off shooting or hunting in the olden days the old hands do say. -

Thanks footman. I rang the countryside alliance and they told me you can hunt hares in the north from the 12th of August until the end of march unlike the shooting season for them which d from the 12th of Aug until 31 Jan. Except on a sunday no game can be hunted sunday. -
What is the open season in Northern Ireland for hunting hares with a pack of harriers as I am told that the shooting and hunting of hares are under different legislation. All answers welcome.

Has anyone ever used a gill net such as a pike net to catch rabbits or hares? A fisherman beside me is giving it up and i was thinking of trying the nets out for hares.

Right folks I'm wanting to net hares to relocate them but I'm completely new to it and was looking at long nets and gate nets for sale on the internet. What does 5 inch full mesh size mean as I taught this would be quite big if its the size of the square of mesh. Thanks

Does anyone know of any good hound books that talk about breeding and scent and so on? I have a right few terrier books but haven't seen many hound ones.

Some of the huntsmen that I know keep their harriers fairly bare and they look under weight. I like to keep my dogs looking well fed but not fat but some other men I know would say they are too heavy. These are lads that have hunted a lifetime and have brilliant dogs. What would your opinions be on this. Is it right to keep hounds light when hunting them?
