Don't think I could handle it if it was constant, but the odd call maybe if I want to pick up I probably wouldn't worry over it..
-
Out of interest how many of you would be prepared to tolerate a hawk that calls/screms.. Whether it be all the time Only when the bird sees you Only out in field Transported etc etc....even if the hawk was a world beater how much would you tolerate..
-
Not around here bbh...what boils my urine is I try my best and give the best and I end up with either a hawk that attacks people or a screamer ! I give up.
-
The last 2-3 years I seem to be seeing a hell of a lot more hawks/owls being owned by un trained un educated people ! I can't see the law changing unless the government knew they could make a fast buck out of us falconers/austringers... But I for one would be prepared to be on a register and be checked out by the powers to be,if it meant it saved the life of one raptor I'd do it right now.

Yeh another dead one I'm sure of it..

Plot thickens guys, sat morning there may be a right " know it all idiot'' that may be buying the goes ! This person has had a Harris since July done nothing and now wants Eric ! I can't type the words I know feel at this moment in time,I put literally weeks & weeks of work into Eric and he's going to end up with a total fan....y that ain't got a clue....sad day for me and a sad day in general for falconry,so yet again money talks.

Right I've just had a text from him he said he wants £400 now when I had the hawk he was well manned,a mate of mine said today he has flown the goes but he can't get his weight right and he's cheesed off.

This morning seen me head up north with hawk & dog busting for it ... When we arrived the wind was gale force almost ! But I knew Sasha could handle it with me flying her in high winds for the past few weeks. We drop down to a small wood and the dog worked it well but didn't find,we then tried a small piece of bracken/fern and GAME ON rabbit flushed and Sasha was on him from up high she missed on her first attempt but luckily for me and her the rabbit went into a big field and she got back on terms with him and strike again BINGO ''IN THE BAG''...well pleased, just wish I could up l

Cover still up pouring down with rain not a great start to our season, I was asked to fly for our local council today around two schools it poured down but had to try my best. We kept the gulls and crows off the buildings and cars for a bit but really difficult in these tough wet conditions....for some reason it won't allow me to upload pictures of today !

... after 2 weeks of grafting and getting her fit she finally did it off the mark at last... Last sat seen us chasing a few phessies one she took on was a cracking pursuit, hard and high she missed him but the effort she put was more than I could ask for we didn't bag but was only out a few hours and we enjoyed it. Tues she was very keen on some magpies in our local field she went after one but he dodged her and she pulled up on a tree ! dosent matter to me as I want her for fur more than anything, Thurs I was over a nice estate she chased a hen bird but narrowly missed her ! but I

Cheers guys much appreciated.. I'm going to try anything not to have this one come out of the mould like a mini and attack people... I've never seen it before. I held my fist up fully garnished and she just flew past me and bound to my mate's head ! ....fingers crossed it will never happen again.

I may get a right slating on here but so be it... ,ive shared my experinecs with you all the ups & downs, but its all the truth and down to facts that i wrote down 3 times a day almost, none of us are perfect and we all make mistakes ive admitted openly on my mistakes but i wonder how many of us would admitt to our mistakes on here or any other forum or club,i dont want sympathy but if someone reads this all and they are thinking of getting a goss..have a real good think is the goss the HAWK FOR YOU..if this helps one person then that will be great.. .."It aint all a bed of roses"

I tried and tried .. manned for hours thro traffic, dogs, people etc etc...took weight up droped weight ..kept weight steady for days then droped again, got him on creance got him hitting crow lure, rabbit lure..yes i made mistakes of " fence posts and 5 bar gates " got him free for the past 2 weeks. But id didnt enjoy the worry or the " i wonder if he be good today attitude"..he wasnt consistant enough on the response yes its down to weight " it has to be hes manned enough "maybe my fault"..but i know one thing i did not give up without a fight ...i knew 2 maybe 3 weeks ago i was not going

I love flying my hawk every single day even just flying gives me the buzz,im lucky because i take my hawks either 2min from my house and im in the fields or i go flying on an estate right next to our main office in the countyside ! I totally agree if you got a hawk get it out has much as possible and get it fit naturally by just flying and not by jump ups and ropes ! i know each to thier own and what works for one wont work for another,i honestly think a harris is the all rounder in the hawking field ( my opinion) they hunt off fist, out of trees,on the soar, over ferrets, dogs, and ev

Ive flown hawks for approx 11 years i started off with a barn owl, reason being i went to this guys house and he had him in a type of "ferret cage" i offerd him cash there and then for it and he said yes,so he cost me £25 quid i had that owl for a good number of years, and since that day that i brought him home i was hooked.. Ive flown a common buzzard "just flown"...2 male harris hawks "hunted" and a female "hunted"and a male red tail"flown"... After my female harris turning into a lunatic for no apparent reason this season,i decided to see if the goss was the the hawk that would be for
