  2. hi, could any one reccomend a cheap light s/s or o/u shotty. i'll be getting it in 20 gauge. i have trawled guntrader and ukgunroom and have found a few which look good. also what are the laws on posting shotguns? thanks, Aaron.
  3. ok thanks, i think i'll go for a side by side or o/u gun then.
  4. thanks sterry. i would ge getting no.6s mainly as i have read that if you want a general cartridge for rabbit and pigeon then these are the way to go. what are the main advantages between say a 24gr and a 32g cartridge? would a heavier load for bigger quarry? sorry these questions must seem stupid...
  5. thank you very much borntoshoot, you've been very heplful. it is still possible to clean a pump action gun though?
  6. right. i have used both o/u, s/s, bolt action and pump guns bfore on a clay day where you get to tr out lots of differnet guns. i wa comfortable with all of them. is it important to strip and clan a shotgun regurarly.

  9. would a mossberg 500 20 gauge be any good for pigeon shooting? i would also be using it for general pest control and rough shooting. thsnk, aaron p.s heres the link; http://www.mossberg.com/products/default.asp?id=3 i would be getting it in 20 gauge not .410.
  10. AAAHHHH i see it. my god im scared that was staring e in the face all the time.
  11. if i wa ever to shoot pheasies or partridge it would only be a rough shoot as i would'nt do peg shooting. i thought a pump gun like a mossberg 500 would have an advantage in decoying, pest control and rough shooting but a lot of you are saying o/u or s/s. is this simply because there traditional guns or is there another reason?
  12. hi all, i have just got a quick question on what gauge i should get when i get my shotgun (in abot a years time!). i wll be 14 when i get thye shotty. i will be after rabbits, wood pigeons, squirrels any mayb even pheasent with it. i was thinking of a 20 gauge side by side. i know this must be a little bit of an old chestnut on here but should i go for over and under, side by side or maybe even a 3 shot pump gun as i was thinking of getting this in 20 gauge earlier (its a mossberg 500 pum 3 shot): http://www.saddleryandgunroom.co.uk/gunroo...-20g-wood-b.jpg is it worth the advantages of a
  13. thanks SS. i think i need to take a little more time deciding which gun to get. what is the usual price for 20 gauge cartridges?
  14. thanks! the pellet went out the other side of the brid and the crop was absaloutly full of grain! think i'll pan fry the breasts today and have it in wrap. ATB Aaron
  15. but arent shotguns always shooting pigeons out of the air, isent that the point of them?
  16. theres open farmland going on for miles behind it. don't worry, i would never take that sho it i was in a built up area, im blessed with country side surrounding me!
  17. well i want a small gun to start off with so a .410, 28 or 20 gauge would be ideal. and i want a quiet gun simply because i dont like loud noises. i will probably have to get a single barreled gun because of my budget though. i have a limit of about £400. i could probably pick up a decent second hand o/u or s/s in 28 bore which i think have a larger shot pattern than a .410.
  18. welcome tho THL! many taffy boys on here! mae ni yn yn i gyd yn o cymru bron!
  19. helo! well i noticed there were a pair of woodys reguarly sitting on the wires above my house at around 7 o'clock. well next time i went out into the garden to put away the poults i sat otu abit watching the wires. sure enough a pair of woodys landed on the wire at around 20 yards away from me. i went down on one knee and flicked the safety on to 'F'. put the cross hairs on the woodys neck and breathed, 'don't mess this up you idiot' i thought. one shot and the pigeon dropped with quite a bit of flapping and managed to land exactly where i didnt want it to go, into the nettle patch . its par
