  1. Hi Deker, Thanks for your reply. Having the American cut down to eighteen inches, ( I think I will wait the twelve weeks for it, as you quite rightly said if I want an American, I want an American) Is so I can fit a mod without it being to long to use from a pickup. The Barrel on an American is 22inches as purchased, so perhaps I could cut it to Twenty inches? Or am I thinking about it the wrong way? Again please Advise. By the way,as you may have gathered I am very much a newbe when it comes to rifles, having more experiance with lurchers and Shotguns.
  2. I have just ordered a new CZ .22 Hornet American but delivery will be twelve weeks. The guy at the shop says he can get a CZ Lux .22 Hornet in two weeks. Apart from the obivous, Fixed sights, shape of stock, Etc, are there any great differances? (the Lux is eighty pounds cheaper) In either case I would have the barrel cut down to eighteen inches and screw-cut. Is this a good idea? would it make the rifle less accurate? Could someone please advise?
  3. I have a .223 and a.22 hornet and a I have just started re-loading. For the .223 I am using the Lee reloading manual starting Load of 3.5 grains of Imr Trail Boss and a 55 Grain Bullet for a sub sonic velocity of 958 fps for in door target shooting pratice. Can anybody help with data for a load below 1700 fps for my .22 Hornet usind a 35 or 45 grain V-max bullet and possibly trail boss or other fast burning powder? I cannot find such data. Thanks in advance for any help.

  5. Sent my ticket off for a variation for a Cz 527 .22 Hornet on wednesday 23rd Jan and received it back agreeed on Thursday morning's post on the 31st. From what I have heard about other police forces we must be dead lucky with Manchester Police, they are really helpfull and easy to talk to. Now all I need is a Good scope.
  6. I bought one for my wife due to it's weight and size. She shoots 1/4 inch groups with it and loves the rifle. I had thought I would have to remove the front sight so we could have it screw cut, but if you loosen to screw you can turn thr front sight round 180 degrees and this gives you enough for 1/2 inch screw cut. It's a great little rifle and well made..

  10. Snatch was owned by Geoff Ogden. he was out of Chris Moyse's Captain and was brother to Chris's Sploge. I saw him run for three seasons and he was one of the best dogs I have seen in fifty years. Fen or fields he was a great dog. He is now retired to stud in northern Ireland, owned by stevie and davy. They brought him back to England for half a season last year and he was still dangerous at eight years old. When he was a youngster he was run to a stand still and some were quick to call him a stasher but in three seasons I saw him run he never even looked like stashing. I saw him kill fours
  11. Dereks judged for me in previous years at different shows and you will not find a better judge. It may be of interest that the bitch that was put up as show champion was ALC champion last year and also east of england champion of champion. The bitch "Lottie" was best in show last year under a different judge and I have seen her win four times Again under different judges, Are all the judges wrong???. The reserve Champion has won at other shows (under different judges) and has already qualified for the ALC championship so the two will meet again in august at the countryside show at pickering
  12. There is no British single-handed competition (Forley cup) this year. I have run the forley since 1997 as chairman of the Association of Lurcher clubs. At the moment all my time is taken up with fighting for the repeal of the hunting ban. Three weeks ago I was in the Houses of Parliment with representatives of other hunting organisations fighting for lurcher work (all kinds of Lurcher work) The fight goes on. The ban is a bad law and will be repealed. If anybody says he has a dog in this years Forley, somebody is kidding him!!! Once again there is no Forley cup this season. I have the com

Thanks Martin, She was a great bitch and a lot of that was down to you. You reared her well and it shows in her condition in the photos. 16. I bought her off you and she certainly was a great bitch. She (Jess, the Rammy Rocket) ran for me for four seasons and never let me down. A lot of the dog lads knew when I had her and she had a terrific rep. I wish I had her now. There are still some good dogs bred down from her, still matching.
