hi mate, i don't know how far this is true i heard or read somewhere , its not a good idea to stock a pond with fish if your wanting to use the pond for flighting duck, again i don't know how far this is true may be worth asking about . good luck. -

hi all, thanks very much for the quick replies, i should have given a little more detail last night , i have a fox red dog who is coming up nine this year and do not want to leave it too late, before replacing him i would like to stay with this colour if possible, the dog i have is a fairly easy, biddable, natured lab, used for beating/picking up . thanks again.

hi all, does anyone know of any good litters of labradors in the north east area,i,m in no great hurry just yet but would like to start looking around, thanks.

hi all, i paid approx £30 to get the hob vasectomised which seems expensive but pays for it,s self over the years , the antiseptic cream is the the same has you find at home, the r s p c a at the moment are giving out vouchers for small pets (ferrets) also get your hob vasectomised get round your mates with ferrets come to some agreement and take they jills out of season.
-
hi all , vasectomised hob is the best way to go. try keeping them all together but once he starts to pull the jills around then its time to separate him, which i would expect to see this time of year . this is what i do and have done for years with no problems, once the jills start to come into season, put the in season jill into the hobs cage , keeping a eye on them from time to time , once he,s done his bit and lost interest return the jill to her cage check her neck and if need be rub some antiseptic cream on . good luck.

cheers lads, thanks for the replys.

hi all, i,ve been looking round for a lab to replace mine in a couple of years . so i was wondering what kind of price would be a fare price for a half decent lab pup ? cheers.

hi spike , speaking to a friend last night who shoots a pond roughly 15miles away towards the coast, similar size, same food, only difference been the mallard he,s got hundreds of them , !!! fingers crossed eh.
-
hi all, thanks for the replies, we,ve used barley to feed the pond for many seasons, only the last 3 been like this, someone suggested it could be a problem with a hawk or falcon ? like the idea of trying full stalks, cheers lads.
-
They more than likely have found a more attractive food source, keep feeding and im sure they will return in time Try some new foods, shuv a bag of cheap tatties into the freezer and leave overnight, then put them into the pond. You can also try this with corn cobs. Wheat or barley stalks with intact grain pods are good as well. As they float on the surface these wil get the hen teal and mallards making lots of noise and splashing while they are feeding and bring in more passing ducks.
-
hi all, i shoot over a semi moorland pond which is within a syndicate shoot, the pond is kept well fed with barley, and shot of a evening weather permitting approx fortnightly, first night plenty of mallard with a few teal and after that the mallard dropped off to nothing , but the teal keep increasing in numbers, any ideas what,s happened to the mallard ? many thanks.
-
cheers Neal mate, i,ll give them a try.
