  5. just got home ourselves. Thanks Al for a brilliant weekend and thanks to Kev for keeping us company Prinny got champ under 23" racing and reserve champ overall in the unders v's overs champs. The under v's the over final was a close one, prinny got pipped to the post by Mick. Not bad considering she's only 14 month old! Niela got 2nd in her heat in the unders Titch the terrier got third in her race lol! The judge in the lurchers was top notch, some real good dogs in the championship. Thanks to the racing team for a good afternoon. See you all very soon, can't wait f
  6. leave the cage open with a nice juicy rabbit secured in it or leave a ferret box with bedding on the floor under cover so it dont get wet. If he comes back you will find him curled up asleep Hope you find him
  7. Aberystwyth in Wales. When i take her out should i have a collar on her so i can locate her just incase she goes to ground? She pays attention to the holes on our land but as of yet hasn't attempted to enter......touch wood. As you can probably tell i am complete beginner when it comes to working terriers so any advise is really appreciated.
  8. This is my first terrier so i dont really know much about bringing them on and i dont want to ruin her. On some of our land it wouldnt matter how far away she hunted on but other areas are next to roads and i dont want her to get squished but am i doing the right thing going to get her or should i just leave her go and wait for her to come back? I could take her on the land with no roads but then i dont want to loose her either. I really have the feeling that she wouldn't come back, she seems quite content with running away!
  9. Thanks Will have to try and tag along with someone with an older terrier although we had 2 lurchers with us and they were coming back fine but she didn't bother following them, just wanted to hunt on all the time! Anything is worth a try though. I have a feeling this terrier will be the death of me! lol We tried every trick in the book tonight, fussing the other dogs to try and get her close enough to grab, walking away with the other dogs in the opposite direction to her, getting on my knees and calling her to me, she is just oblivious and very stubbon!
  10. I am hoping to get a bit of advise from some more experienced terrier owners. I have a 6 month old bitch, she was given to us because she kept running away from her previous owners and they had enough of chasing after her! I don't know very much about terriers, lurchers and gundogs are more my forte but i thought 'it cant be much different' HOW WRONG WAS I!!! I think she is Patterdale x Lakeland but I'm not 100% sure. Her old owners did not really know what she was as they only bought her for their kids so didn't pay any attention to her breeding. Her parents were working dogs and thats ab
  11. dont be silly like a walk in the park it was 300 at monmouth no no malc that was 300 inches well it was for alans dog then they stopped him going any further because he might have beaten one of theirs ha ha what a load of bull Between getting banned from lurcherworld and having some little scrote nick off with our rosette at caerphilly it'll be good to run her on 'home turf' and from what i hear us and whitey have a little wager on this one.......a bag if jelly beans! mmmmm can't wait!
  12. Who says it had to be a working dog? Who says it had to have broken its leg chasing? theres plenty of other explanations for a broken leg. I think its one hell of an assumption. Theres plenty of people with pet dogs that dont look after them half as well as MOST working dog people but because a saluki type dog gets found with a broken leg it has to have been a working dog and the injury had to have happened during a chase??? Dont get me wrong.....i know it goes on and people who dont look after their dogs make my blood boil but assumption like this dont help the true working dog people. Re
  13. they could have got that off of any dog there . atb jenna They didn't get it from monmouth, the dogs must have already had it but weren't showing symptoms. Kennel cough can take 10 days or more to show symptoms in an infected dog. My point is if they were camped with the lurcherworld crew, dogs drinking from the same bowl etc then the chances are some of the lurcherworld crew will either have it or be carrying it. If these people then attend broadlands with infected dogs then it will be passed on again.....
  14. had a phone call from some freinds who attended the monmouth show with lurcherworld, their dogs came down with kennel cough a day or so after the show. They have rightly phoned everyone in lurcherworld to let them know they could have unknowingly been carrying it and passed it on to their neighbours while camping. They aren't going to the next few shows now to make sure its cleared but it will be interesting to see how many others from lurcherworld do the responsible thing at broadlands living heritage this weekend.

Shame really, we made some good freinds there . Sure we'll see them again very soon See you all at heart of Wales in May Amanda x
